ive seen it in the account editor but does it actually work ?

You mean Horizon's Device Explorer? It can be used to store Xbox Live accounts and modify them, but it can't recover them unless you have stored an account backup on your PC or a USB device.

i have an extra live account but i dont know the password , just the email address but i have it on a memory stick.
