Since you can get a Verizon phone, get the Galaxy Nexus or RAZR Maxx. The Gnex is a better phone with a much nicer screen, better software, and will have support long into the future, but the RAZR Maxx has unparalleled battery life, a huge (and ugly, IMO) bezel, skinned Android from Motorola (you might like it, you might not), and the dev community is not nearly as strong. Also consider the HTC Rezound, since it's basically got everything. Highest pixel density on the market, SD card, 4G, MicroSD support, crappy headphones that you can sell to offset the price or get some decent ones, and very good specs. The Rezound also should be the cheapest, and it's a really solid phone. Check Amazon Wireless for better prices.

Personally if I was you I would get the Droid even though it is on Ginerbread, root it then flash an ice cream sandwich rom onto it.
