They are all garbage, and I say this with confidence. Multiple drivers in full-size headphones that do not cover different parts of the spectrum make for horrible sound. Five crappy speakers don't sound anywhere nearly as good one good driver does. It doesn't work like that. They're terrible for music, and not even as good as you would think for gaming. Sennheiser HD 555s with a mic will give you much better quality for less, and at a higher budget, the AKG K701/K702 is the ultimate gaming headphone. Ultrasones also have S-Logic technology that actually works without negatively affecting sound quality. In the headphone guide, I linked an article about gaming headphones.))

i forgot to thank you once you gave me the recommendation, so heres the thanks. i ended up buying the image s4, and I'm wondering what the comply foam tips would exactly do because the stock buds are uncomfortable. what are the pros of buying them?

Hold on a minute. You're both discrediting reviews by experts as well as making an argument that works against you. You've clearly never tried any of the headphones I listed as "good for gaming." When you say I lack direct experience, it implies that you yourself have experience. Again, you've got a serious lack of evidence and have provided none. I am fully aware MLG is sponsored by Astro to use their headsets. That does not mean they're good headphones, it means that Astro paid for product placement. The same goes with Beats. All the celebrities you see wearing Beats are paid very well to do so, particularly music artists. In reality, they use good headphones. Lady Gaga uses JH Audio JH16 Pros, Justin Bieber uses Beyerdynamic DT770 Pros, Dr. Dre uses Audio Technica M50s in his studio, and the list goes on. You also might notice that all of those artists are involved with Beats Audio. Funny how that works.

I have not lost the argument, there never was one since there was no opposing evidence. I'm still waiting on it, and this matter is not personal for me, so I'd be fine with "losing", or should I say, being corrected. I'm always learning! I've just arrived at my current conclusion considering all the facts I've observed.

First off, give them some time. IEMs, no matter what kind they are, will take some time to get used to. Should be a matter of days, perhaps a week or two of pretty regular use.

Also make sure you're wearing them right. The tips should be angled like you see in all the pictures.

Comply tips become extremely soft when they heat up to body temp, which should result in a better seal and more comfortable fit. For $15, I'd call that a good buy. Even after using the S4 for a long time, I wanted the tips since that's just the nature of IEMs.

I'd get the Ultrasone Pro 900. Make sure you don't pay more than $400 for it, as well. I'm personally waiting for B&H Photo to get them back in stock as they have always had the best prices.

Still, there's no guarantee they'll stay at that price. I've seen them going for upwards of $550, which is just too much. Wait for the good price.

You can also get an amplifier to get the most out of these cans. You can use a line-out cable with any portable iDevice and a portable amplifier. The Fiio E11 and L9 are a good entry-level combo and should be plenty for the Pro 900, which can be run without an extra amp if needed.

If you're wondering how these compare with Beats, they've got nothing on these. They're on another level entirely.

Alright then. If you want portable headphones, the JH Audio JH16 Pro is, to my knowledge, the best custom IEM in the world. Parall3l or Ishcabible, correct me if I'm wrong. If you want portable full-size cans, the Ultrasone Signature Pro is the best I can think of. They should be even better than the Edition 8 for portable use.

You'll also want some more hardware to REALLY get the most out of these. (Honestly, if you have that much money, you could get both the Sig Pros and the JH16.) I'd go with a Cypher Labs AlgoRhythm Solo with a Ray Samuels Audio SR-71B or ALO Audio RX Mk III. You could get fancy snake oil, but that's what they are. Snake oil. They do not affect sound quality, although people will assert that they do. It's all in their heads. Coat hangers sound the same as uber-high-end cables. Stick with the stock stuff.

I don't have too much time right now, but to get this setup, there are some other things you'll want to take into consideration.

Well it's kind of hard to contest opinions of custom IEM's since none of us actually, like, have any. I suggested the Spiral Ear 5-way because those seem to be awesome, but I haven't a clue what they actually sound like.

But yeah, he could get both if he can pay up to $10,000, which would be ludicrously stupid.
