Sony's PlayStation Vita, is it actually worth the expensive price tag of $250? That is a question many members of the gaming community will be asking themselves, below I will provide an argument for and against the purchase of Sony's newest handheld device; which will hopefully give you insight as to if the PlayStation Vita is a breakthrough in next generation console's; or another money making scheme from Sony Computer Entertainment.
Sony's PlayStation Vita (officially abbreviated PS Vita) is the successor to Sony's previous PlayStation Portable; adding to PlayStation's ever increasing brand of gaming devices. It was released in Japan and parts of Asia on December 17th, 2011, In Europe, North America, South America and Singapore on February 22nd, 2012, and in Australia on February 23rd, 2012. It contends with Nintendo's 3DS, as part of the Eighth generation of gaming.
PlayStation's newly released handheld device includes two analog sticks, a 5-inch (130 mm) OLED multi-touch capacitive touchscreen and supports all the usual connectivity such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and optional 3G. Internally, the Vita features a 4-core ARM Cortex-A9 MPCore processor and a 4-core SGX543MP4+ graphics processing unit.
Advantages and Disadvantages
Below I have compiled a list of advantages and disadvantages in favor of the PlayStation Vita;
Advantages;
- Powerful quad-core processor
- Bright / powerful screen
- Comfortable controls
Disadvantages;
- Unimpressive battery life
- Very big and bulky
- Console and games are expensive
- No internal storage
- Limited multi-tasking
As you can see; there is more disadvantages than advantages regarding the PlayStation Vita, which is a shame as it's not something you would expect from Sony.
By far the biggest issue with the PlayStation Vita is its poor battery life; something most critics predicted due to its massive screen and quad-core processor chugging away inside. A close friend of mind recently invested in the purchase of a PlayStation Vita hoping to obtain hours of gaming fun; this did not turn out to be the case as on average he struggles to gain 4 hours of game time.
Now you'll notice I've focused mainly on the disadvantages of the Vita, although advantages are limited, it does offer some interesting and entertaining features such as the 0.3 megapixel camera and built in microphone. A rare feature that the PlayStation Vita offers is a brand-new rear Touch Pad, this is something that I have personally never seen before and I would consider this one of the Vita's biggest selling points.
Conclusion
In conclusion the PlayStation Vita offers some decent gaming features such as dual-analogue controls and a impressive and touch-responsive screen... although its design lacks attractiveness, while the Vita also holds a very poor battery life. Also the expensive price tag of the device means that all but the most hardcore gaming fans would be better served by something like Apple's iPod touch.

This is a pretty good post. But I disagree with you saying the games are pricey, the max the game's will cost is 45$, to me, that's not that much. Then again, that's just an opinion. The PS Vita shouldn't be competing with the 3DS at all. The 3DS has a touch screen, it's 3D and it has 2 cameras. The PS Vita has 2 analog sticks, 2 camera's, 2 touch screens, multi-core, and has HD graphics. The PS Vita no doubt outranks the 3DS considering they are the same price, yet the PS Vita has way more features.
Lastly, I believe you should only out facts in the pro's/con's. Like how you said it's bulky? I don't think so? It's like the size of a controller. Nevertheless, nice post, I just don't fully agree with it .
