The AR-15 design HAS had quite a run compared to past rifles (M1, M1A), but it's the most versatile the military has ever used and it's been continually updated. It's been changed to be a better gun while keeping the same design.

Nobody will own an M4 here. It's a military-only weapon. Even if you wanted it, you'd have to be involved in the military, have good connections, and jump through tons of hoops.
