The character limit actually is a validator script (among other scripts) loaded after the webpage loads. You'd have to modify the Script that holds the Validating Method. But there are thousands of lines to go through to find the correct validation code.
Just for fun, try putting <s>, <b>, <i>, <u> at the beginning of your motto. You'll notice that your motto will reflect the code. I've tried, for numerous hours, to get past the validation or modify the existing scripts. But I have yet to figure out how to get my modified script to run on the site. Or to overwrite the exist script being loaded.
