Choosing either side results in no major gameplay changes. To my knowledge, they both give you/do the same thing.

Choose the one you feel is "right."

When I first got the game, I went with Imperials. Then I restarted the game and went with Stormcloaks.

There is no damn difference.

Balgruuf gets sent to live under the Jarl building in solitude.

(If you choose Stormcloak and win the war) You can visit him and all the other Imperial jarls down there, but they will throw insults at you.

iv done both and there is no major difference between the two. i like the imperials better because the stormcloaks are racist a-holes and ulfric is too arrogant
