I've been visiting this site for years, even before I had an account one of my friends introduced me to the site a little before MW2 was released, that being said I have seen the pre-release speculation of the last 3 call of duty's.
Every year it is the same, every year the hype, the bashing of the current game, the glorifying of older games, it's all been here, year after year. I can also guarantee that the disappointment will follow.
There's the usual call for the return of the great cod4 mechanics, then the complaining over new innovations, and then the all to common complaining over how the games are too alike. The thing is, no matter how much you cry, no matter how much you wish to have certain gameplay aspects, more likely than not these won't happen. By speculating and getting yourself excited for the "new" game over the next 6 and a half months all you're going to succeed in doing is set the game up for complete and utter failure in your mind.
Let's look at a game most of the call of duty community appreciates (probably the sole title that everyone who played from release on enjoyed). Everyone looks back at this as one of if not the best shooters in the modern generation. Why did it do this well? Lack of expectations. Call of Duty 3 (likely a game few of you reading this will have played) had come out the following year and essentially lost all of the praise that COD and COD2 had brought to the series. Honestly as a player of all the Call of Dutys (1-8) this one was the worst for me. Call of duty appeared to have lost its footing, no one expected a good game to follow. This gave infinity ward a unique oppertunity, to make a game without anyone in the community really caring what they did, and the end product was nothing short of amazing. Every game since that has faced this prerelease counterproductive scrutiny that has plagued the call of duty series since then.
In my opinion the community doesn't know what they want. If you would just give the developers to do their job and stop complaining over the inclusion or disclusion of this or that you all would be a lot happier with the end result. I bet if you played a call of duty, one that you claim to not like, had that been a standalone game I promise you would most likely like it.
Long story short these expectations are ruining the series, you are only hurting your perception of the game by longing for features and such, I can almost guarantee this post will be relevent next year if another call of duty comes out.
Just my 2 cents guys, do what you want though, just don't expect this game to live up to all your hopes and dreams.
