I have checked other cap card posts and it all sounds very confusing to me so please dont just tell me to look at other posts

Im very new to cap cards and recording devices so i know nothing at all about it Ive been looking at capture cards and they all seem to need like 5 different leads that id need to buy and i dont understand any of it so my questions are:

If i set up a DVD recorder could i just record what im seeing and then rip it onto my laptop for editing?

Does it just record what im seeing or do i have to set up DVD recorders to record the specific AV channel?

Is there any capture card that is a very simple USB plug-in? (Im guessing no?)

If not can someone recommend the simplest cap card and how would i go about using it?

Also i dont care about high quality just average will do So cheap but reliable if possible
