hey man so i got a problem...

i did everything that you said in the tut to my xenon jtag xbox. the original problem was that it would cut on and there was no sound or video and only the green center light would be lit up. Now, after doing this my jtag has the RRoD with 3 rings. ( i think it was called e74 ). anyways i cut the xbox on and the fan spins up for half a second and then gives me the RRoD and i have to hold down he middle buttob o cut it off instead of just pushing it. PLEASE HELP!!!

Hey dude nice tutorial!! Just fyi, when putting foil around the chips, put it around the whole actual chip, not just the shiny part. there are solder connections under the whole chip, so yeah! and also, i prefer to keep the x-clamps on, it helps prevent flexing when playing the xbox.

And to all the people saying that the heat gun is bad, i also repair xboxs for a living, but i use a heat gun. I know it is not the best method, but i have not had the money to buy a rework station until now. I have repaired hundreds of consoles with a heat gun, given a 60 day warranty, and have only had 5 come back! It is a reliable method if its all you can afford, but if you are going to do this professionally, use a rework station. They are more professional, are more accurate, and made for this kind of stuff.

I think i might sorta see a problem with this tut.when you are heating the chips with the heat gun there is nothing protecting the components around the chips and i know when they hot[heatgun] they melt and liquid comes out or explode.so how could we avoid this???

Exactly. By using a heatgun your are harming your xbox even further in the long run. Sure it might work for a week or two. Sending it out to be reflown for 30-40 dollars and having it properly repaired seems a lot better to me. And once it can't be repaired by a heatgun anymore, you'll finally go to a repair man and it'll be too late. If someone tells me they previously repaired their console with a heat gun, I tell them to throw it in the garbage.
