Need a 1tb+ 7200rpm hard drive. I hear all these things about various companies and it has become overall too confusing on which one to buy -_-. Any advice? Experience?

Just grab a 1tb WD Black. One of the fastest 7200rpm drives out there. Known to be pretty reliable also. I have one myself and it's been going strong for a couple of months. You shouldn't get into platters and what not since that will make everything more complicated.

...Can't speak on behalf of every Caviar Black owner, but I can't hear mine, and my PC is literally 5 inches away from my ear.
