Mine done this aswell several times.

Not sure if this is an actual fix, but what I done ...

As soon as you press start, press the Xbox guide button. Keep the guide open, then when it freezes, go down to 'Play game on disc' or 'Play Fifa 12' whichever one it says. Then mine just ran once I done that

Give it a shot, let me know if it works ;)
