Right just wanted to know a few things.

Will there be texture packs straight away?
Will it be multiplayer straight away?
Anyone know roughly the time of release in UK?

I'm going to buy it anyway, just curious.

1. Texture packs come couple days after release
2. Multiplayer will be out couple days after launch too
3. 4-5 am i have been told

Wrong, multiplayer is already implemented and is working.

Does anyone know when texture packs and plugins will be coming out for it?

Is it only 8 slots online?

Texture Packs are not available now, same with mods and skins
Multiplayer is up and running fine. - Not sure how many can fit at once, I believe 8.
Release Time I believe is around 10am UK time.
