This window has been open for more than 20minutes, I have tried closing and trying again but doesn't work.

If you must know I have a ipod touch 2nd gen running 4.2.1 firmware

that is really weird, are you sure that you are using right verision of snowbreeze?

I am using sn0wbreeze 2.9.3 which supports firmware 4.2.1

Did you download this off the official site? If you didn't download it off the official site, download it from there. Then check if you have the most recent version as that one may be buggy.

If this still doesn't work, search the problem on YouTube and see what the community says!

Problem solved.

My usb ports were not detecting my ipod so I used my other computer and it worked.
