Release Date: May 9, 2012
Developer: 4J Studios, Mojang
Publisher: Mojang
Platforms: Xbox
Genre: First-Person Action

Synopsis

Imagine it, build it! Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition lets you create worlds from the comfort of your sofa. Play alone or play with your friends. Explore, build and conquer! At night monsters come out, so make sure to build a shelter before that happens. After that, your world is your imagination. Turn your hours into minutes with Minecraft!

Gameplay

Build, dig, explore, discover! Minecraft Xbox Edition delivers the same great gameplay as Minecraft PC, with a few new features. Minecraft Xbox Edition features the Minecraft PC 1.6 update where maps were first introduced, tutorial mode, leaderboards, and multiplayer. In multiplayer, you can have up to 4 player split screen, and up to 8 players online co-op, and of course without any lag! I have heard rumors that there is going to be game updates such as the PC version had, but I have not been able to find a reliable source to support this.
(8/10)

Graphics

The graphics are pretty much the same as Minecraft PC, simple, and smooth. According to Mojang, custom Minecraft skins, and texture packs will be available for Minecraft Xbox Edition users to use in their, and other worlds in the near future.
(6/10)

Controls

The controls for Minecraft Xbox Edition were the most interesting feature of this game. There are the basic jump, move, crouch, place, dig, and 3rd person view, but then there is the crafting table. The crafting table seemed a bit confusing and hard to use at first, but once you get use to it, and know where everything is located, it is fairly simple.
(6/10)

My Final Thoughts On Minecraft Xbox Edition

As much as I love minecraft, I was a little bit disappointed in the Xbox version. You are charged 1600 msp for the game (price of full pc version). and in return, get an earlier beta release of the game. There are a lot of missing features that I was looking forward to seeing on the Xbox edition, and was let down. I hope 4J Studios and Mojang are planning on adding free updates to the game, because if not, it was not worth the msp. If you want to get the best game experience playing minecraft, I recommend you stick with the PC version.

OVERALL RATING: 6.6/10

I'm going to submit my review because I had a very different rating of the game.

Release Date: May 9, 2012
Developers: 4J Studios, Mojang
Publishers: Mojang
Platforms: Xbox 360
Genre: Sandbox, Survival, Adventure
Players: Single Player, Multiplayer
Rating (ESRB): E (Everyone)

Synopsis:

A player in Minecraft has a lot of freedom to choose how to play the game, with the primary goals being surviving attacks by monsters (known in-game as "hostile mobs") and building shelter. The core gameplay revolves around construction. The game world is essentially made of cubes arranged in a fixed grid pattern which represent different materials, such as dirt, stone, various ores, water, and tree trunks. While the players can move freely across the world, objects and items can only be placed at fixed locations relative to the grid. The player can gather these material blocks and place them elsewhere, thus potentially creating various constructions.

Gameplay

Minecraft gameplay is completely unique and unlike any other game I've played before. You start out with nothing and have to completely create your own tools and essentials needed to survive through the night. In the start the game is more focused on you building a shelter so you can survive the monsters that come out in the night. The tutorial in the game does a fantastic job of showing you how to build all the tools you need to survive.
From building a house out of dirt to constructing a portal to the nether I have not gotten bored with this game. It is very addictive and I can see myself playing this for months to come. The multiplayer is fantastic, it has little lag for me and it is very fun to build, mine and create things with your friends. Minecraft has so much to offer the player to do with its railroads, mines, caves, and materials. This is definitely a game where you can space out playing for hours and not notice how much time has gone by.

Gameplay Rating: 10

Graphics:

The graphics are meant to be low quality, the game's not meant to be played on amazing graphics. That is another thing I love about the game. The graphics are simple and effective for the game. With that being said, it's hard to rate a game on graphics when the game is meant to be played that way. I have not seen any rough edges or anything wrong with them so I'm going to have to say the graphics are amazing. I love the vast landscape and seeing the sun and moon move through the sky. The lands in the game look great.

Controls:

The controls are simple, easy to pick up on and a lot like fortresscraft in a way. I have not had any issues with the controls and after playing the game for 1 hour they were like second nature to me. Anyone should be able to get the controls pretty fast after playing the game a bit. Great effective controls perfectly for this game.

Controls Rating: 9

Overall Rating: 9.5/10 (Amazing game, very addictive and fun gameplay, great graphics and easy to use controls.)

I only gave it a bad rating because it is very dubbed down from the PC version. My Minecraft PC rating would probably be 9/10.

General Synopsis:
"Imagine it, build it! Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition lets you create worlds from the comfort of your sofa. Play alone or play with your friends. Explore, build and conquer! At night monsters come out, so make sure to build a shelter before that happens. After that, your world is your imagination. Turn your hours into minutes with Minecraft!" - Xbox 360 Marketplace.

My Synopsis:
Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition is a sequel to the Minecraft PC version which is a huge selling independent sandbox game on the web. It was originally created within Java by a person named: Markus Persson otherwise referred to as "Notch"but, he is now aided with the game by his company known as "Mojang". The aim of the game is to just build creations but at the same time surviving what the game is throwing at you. The main idea of the game is to let your imagination do all the work and construct either big or small structures.

Gameplay:
I did enjoy the general gameplay though like I would on the PC version because it's basically the same excepted a bit outdated but this reminds everyone who use to play Minecraft in it's beta stages about all the old things and how much the game has changed in general. I feel that 4J Studios have done a great job integrating Minecraft onto the Xbox because it would of taken a lot more time to work on it to get the current updated version from the PC onto the Xbox. So I think the gameplay at this present moment in time is quite good despite being a little dated.

9/10

Graphics:
When I first hopped onto the game I knew there wouldn't be any amazingly drawn texture packs like the PC offers because they were add-ons by designers from around the world but the standard textures which were designed by the company are so simple and yet loved by thousands / millions. I don't mind them because they make Minecraft how it is due to it's simplicity and yet no one seems to mind them.

7/10

Controls:
Before I had even got onto the game I just knew it would be slightly harder for me to start off because like many others including myself, I could only do it with a mouse & keyboard seems the PC version was the only platform to have this game on. I got use to these controls rather quickly and thought they were set out perfectly. Also they have different control layouts for people who prefer a slightly more easier or harder feel to the game when navigating and crafting.

8/10

Overall: Very fun & addicting, great to play with other people you may or may not know, easy to pick up on controls, simple & loveable graphics and you can lose track of time sometimes!

Do you how much time and effort goes into this game? Do you realize that on PC the debs do their best each month to provide a free update to make the game better. Don't take this game for granted. People worked very hard on it so that others would appreciate it .
