In order to downgrade all by itself you need to get the SHSH Blobs from your old iOS version when you had the version.
First question.
Did you get the SHSH Blobs when you had (For example)iOS 5.0.1?
If no the you cannot downgrade.
i never had 5.0.1 i had 5.1 though
What iOS do you want to go to?
You have never been on that iOS version?

Okay i have an iphone 3gs , i have recently jailbroken it, tethered through redsnow, and i plugged it into a docking station last night and when i unplugged it the home button stopped working so i turned it off and went to reboot it but now i cant enter DFU mode via. redsn0w because the homebutton wont work! ive tried letting it die but as soon as i plug it in within 2 minutes it turns back on again! its stuck at the apple logo. please if anyone could help me fix this i would be forever in your debt, even if you think your idea wont work or isnt important, IT IS please help!

i got a problem i cant use redsn0w it wont detect my itouch in DFU mode trying to get out of recovery mode ive jailbroken b4 though
