i flashed a drive like i have a million others but this one wont play copy games it plays normal games fine but when i put a copy game in it says from open tray to clean the disc any ideas?

bad laser

it plays stock games but it doesnt play backups

its the laser, the laser is weak and it struggles to read backups (cheap media)

What kind of Drive is it? You can try a pot screw adjustment. Its worked for me.
