Hey TTG,

Recently decided I needed to trash my crappy vista machine (2.1 GHz processor, 4gb ram, and more garbage) and to get a mega upgrade.

Just wondering... What do you all think of this build?

BTW: Yes, I want an SSD and an HDD. I'm going to use Raid 0 for optimal performance. I'd like to put my OS and commonly used applications on my SSD, and use my HDD for general stuff. School files, other garbage, etc.

Grand Total: $1,249.90

Also, there'll be about $40 saved in mail-in rebates.

So, that's my build. Comments or ratings? If you're going to rate, I'd prefer #/10.

Thanks!

Thanks! Are you doing 1 or 2 GPU's? I'm debating about adding another GPU and using crossfire.

Drop the OCZ and grab a Mushkin / Crucial if you're on a budget, Intel if you want the best of the best, especially in reliability. Drop the OCZ PSU, overpriced and they have a terrible reputation. I see 750w Antec/Corsair PSU's go on sale quite frequently for under $90. I'd grab a Z77 board since they are in the same price range but offer features (PCIE 3.0 , HD 4000 ) + Ivy Bridge requires it unlike SB which can go in all 1155 socket boards. Drop the h80 since you won't require a after-market cooler since you're not getting far OC's with Ivy since they run hot due to how they were manufactured - and even IF you could, an H80 would not be on my list since it's insanely overpriced and doesn't cool that good when compared to a monster Silver Arrow NH-D14. Buying a 10,000rpm drive in this point in time is ridiculous, especially since you will have an SSD as boot and this will be pure storage - you will see no difference between this and a WD Green.

DO NOT SLI. TI's are meant to overclock, one of them. The drivers for SLI are sh*t.
