Intel processors. I'm just wondering if I could collect some feedback from the TTG community on basically a compare-and-contrast relationship regarding the two.

Any comments or feedback for either processor?

Thanks!

First note: Ivy bridge is newer technology, released in late 2011.

Ivy Bridge runs cooler, uses a tad bit less power, and is built on 2nm architecture, as oppose to Sandy Bridges 32nm architecture.

Depends on what you will be using the CPU for?

  • Overclocking, Sandy Bridge, runs cooler and can attain higher overclocks because it runs cooler. You will need a compatible motherboard of course.

  • Ivy Bridge runs hotter than Sandy Bridge because of the 22mm node and the different interface material used between the die and the heat spreader.
