Okay so I just got my Samsung Epic 4G/ Galaxy S2 from sprint. I first had an HTC Evo 4G but felt like getting an upgrade I always had it rooted from the very start. But now that I have changed phones I do not know if rooting is necessary for this phone. I mean I loved playing with all of the custom roms and everything but should I or should I just leave it the way it is? Please help thanks.
It is also EL29

it really depends what you want to do. i have a droid x2 running cm9 alpha ics 4.0.4. and my phone is probably faster than any 4g LTE offered on the market right now. I have modded the living shit out of this phone.
here is a list of the mods i have
v6 supercharger for ICS
Droid X2 Mirror APK
Power Boost v2.0
8 Touchpoints for CM7 for DX2
Droid X2 build.prop Mash-Up v5 fixed 2.3.4 & 2.3.5
So should you root your phone?
think of it this way. getting a unrooted phone is like the paper cone that holds the cotton candy but without the cotton candy...rooting your phone is like adding the cotton candy... the more cotton candy the better, right?
rooting your phone (doesnt matter if its a shitty moto or a nice Samsung Epic 4G) will always increase the potential. It removes all that crappy bloat ware carries but on the phone, and it provides endless amounts of customization.
If i were in your shoes i would ahve flashed that thing the day i picked it up.
the not so summming summary
do what you want! its your phone.
and im also not held responsible for anything you do to your phone

The thing is I did pick it up today and I was immediately annoyed with all of the bloat ware. I am going to actually root it I just downloaded everything I was planning on it from the beginning but I just didn't know if it was as good on this phone as my evo. I was running an unofficial version of cm9 for it and I loved it I actually don't think I could live with my phone unrooted but now that I see what you post I am going to do the root right now thank you

go to xda-developers.com and in the upper right corner search for your device. That website is the holy grail of your root needs
