OMG GTA V TRAILER!

My Huge Breakdown of the Trailer

There is a blimp floating in the sky in many shots shown in the trailer, maybe that is pasrt of the Mile High club Thing? Also you can see a fighter jet, and a "Fertalizer Plane". Maybe the Jet is coming back with more firepower. And the other plane is part of mini-games. You can see a bike at one point, so maybe those with skateboards are back. When people are walking on the beach, you see a dog and a couple walking. Along with a surf board that may be ridable.

One of the cars it shows is a convertable with a switchable roof to it. It must take place soon after GTA IV because he says "Why did I move here?". That is a b ig possibility. Golfing may be another minigame. Or maybe the clubs can just be used as fighting objects again. Soon after the golf clip, you get to see a big bridge with a Jetski riding under it. This means there will obviously be more then one Island. You get to see an airliner which may mean there are quick ways to get around on riding or flyiing them. After the Jet ski scene, it shows you a huge landscape with mountains and forest with 3 climber/hikers looking at it. This may be another minigame. That land may be climbable and search able. From the showing of the dog earlier, there may be more animals in that forest, things like bears, racoons, wolves, deer, and moose are all possibilities. Right after that clip, you see a man in a car reving it while in a white Tank top, that may point to extreme customization.

Next they show you huge fans that are used to create energy with no civilization other tahn one car around. You then see 2 people doing yoga or just stretching, in what looks like a expensive neigborhood. You also get to see in other parts of the trailer, what looks like ghetto are or poor zones. This can mean zoning areas out like in other GTA's. After those scenes, it goes to a car on the highway with two signs, the one on the left says, "Downtown Little Seoul Ahead" and the other reades "North - Los Puerta FWY" with a highway sign on it. This means for sure, big highways connecting areas is back. Also those locations were in San Andreas, which is where this one will probably take place.

It then goes straight to a scene with a workout station on the beach. Maybe we can work out to gain strength in this game? After that scene quits, it goes to one in a poorer area with one wealthy guy walking through, possibibly you customized? Now it will get interesting, it goes to a scene with a half built building with a few cranes around the building. the building has a huge sign saying "Mile High Club" with a symbol on it that looks like sTo with a house around that. Maybe that is a big company you compete against. Also, after this scene you will start to see a Blimp in the sky whenever you get a good look at the sky. Maybe that has something big to do with the story or it is just flyablein some way. It being so high, must mean parachutes are back. It then goes to a view up close a wealthy buisness man looking at city. He could possibly be part of the story also.

Right after that, it shows a field with a plane dumping fertilizer on it while people work on it. That may be a job you can have or minigame. This looks like the rural area of the city. With agriculture and small shacks for struggeling families. Now comes the action, it shows a Pest Control car pulling up to a bank or something, and a few gues jub out holding silinced AK-47s with small masks on. This might be the opening mission or just a mini game or random mission. But maybe this also means we can have gangs again? Then goesto a white male agreesivly driving a white sports car with a front license plate with this on it, "04EAY868". If anyone knows if that means anything, tell me. This also showcases The noises cars make when driving even more. It sounds pretty fresh to me. This part of this city also shows some construction and a bright city with a few cars around.

Once it quickly cuts to the next scene, it shows a 18 wheeler truck hauling a big load through a construction area. The Semi Truck is for a company called, Up-n-Atom Burger. It sounds to me like a radioactive burgur company but whatever. You then get to see a lot of cars at an intercection. Also a lot of bums hanging out under the bridge, non of them the same! Also a pickup truck with some people in the back again points to gangs. The next clip is the same area from a different view. This also shows a few good looking cars, and the same blue car from earlier, maybe it is bringing s through some special part of town? The next clip surprising shows a lot. TO start, it shows a For Sale Sign the has a date on it. You may be able to buy these properties. In that same clip[ you see 2 trash cans, meaning trash "Tanks" trucks are back. the house also has a big hole on the left side, maybe some property is destructable? Also the power lines in the back show there are different parts of islands because the city has none. You can also see the city scape far in the background. So there is for sure more then 1 island. The adress of the house is 2405 Meaning maybe the reales date is 5/24/12? the next scene has prostitutes out saide a liquor store getting customer, they are back. The liquor stre has card symbols on it, maybe playing cards is a mini game? The next thing to came up, is a blue car speeding a a bridge getting a little air. then goes to a hobo with a sign saying, "Need money for beer". The rest I can't read. You see a shiny truck drive past him and vast city behind him more. You also see more Highway signs pointing again to more islands.

Next you see a homeless people village under a bridge with tents. And one troubled person having trouble standing. A fighter jet then flys by very fast. YES JETS! A guy gets kicked out of a club looking drunk. Alos a motorcycle is shown there. And a nighttime city. A far out few of the city shows hills and an oil thing. The blimp is shown again, in the same spot. Then it shows an intense high speed chase with cool looking police cars and a cool normal car. Then it cuts to an on foot chase with 3 cops following him and one helicoter. Then a car on fire with an abulance in the background. Yay, killing explosions. the a tall radio tower and a Commercial Airliner, new locations? Also a big sign saying "Vinewood". The main location probably, this is also high up on a hill. In the last scene, you see a private jet and the huge vast land of GTAV.

All Info Below Until I say Otheriwse Is the NEWEST Information!
Before you read any further, make sure to post what you want to see in the new game! And go Rave on the Trailer...

Update 25th October 2011

NEWEST INFORMATION STARTS NOW

Here is all of the known Info for now!
Just a few short days after celebrating the 10th anniversary of Grand Theft Auto III, Rockstar Games has announced the next stage of evolution for their iconic crime franchise. The developers official website has been taken over by a simple, stark title Grand Theft Auto V with a tiny promise at the bottom: Trailer 11.02.11. So, for the next eight days, with no other information from the famously secretive Rockstar, well have to simply ponder the implications of the fact that the V is illustrated like a dollar bill. (Could the series be shifting focus to white collar crime? So, in this case, Grand Theft Auto refers to the decimation of the American automobile industry by the preying mantises of Wall Street? Hey, my dad would totally play that game.)
There have been assorted rumors that the next GTA would be set in Vinewood, the version of Hollywood featured prominently in GTA: San Andreas, which makes a certain amount of sense the series has always satirized Hollywood visions of criminality. When I recently talked to Dan Houser Rockstars VP of Creative and a key creative voice behind the series he kept mum about the future of the franchise, but he did make it somewhat explicit that Rockstar viewed GTA as an essentially American story, which means the occasional rumors about a foreign-metropolis sequel are probably untrue. (Sayonara, GTA: Tokyo! Do svidaniya, GTA: Moscow!)
Its not unusual for big games to be announced a long, long time before the release date, so there are plenty of other intangibles at work here. (Since theres still no official word on the long-rumored XBox 720 or the PlayStation 4, it seems like this new GTA will be a send-off for the current generation, rather than a pioneer for the next one.)
We should know more next Wednesday, so lets start the conversation: What would you like to see in the next Grand Theft Auto? A return to past locations, like Vice City or San Andreas? A new Rockstar-ized version of an American metropolis? Or would you like to see another historical game? Post-war Detroit? Depression-era D.C.? Silicon Valley in the mid-00s?

Take-Two trademarks 'GTA TV' and 'Rockstar TV'

Rockstar parent Take-Two has trademarked 'GTA TV' and 'Rockstar TV', possibly hinting at extensive trans-media promotion for Grand Theft Auto V. Could we see some GTA-themed TV programming released leading up to and around the game's launch? Some sort of promotional web series? Your guess is as good as ours. The trademarks (via OXM) cover a wide range of possibilities, with listings mentioning "computer game programs and software; animated motion picture films featuring entertainment, namely, action, adventure, dramatic, comedic, children's and documentary themes; pre-recorded video discs and other pre-recorded digital and electronic media in the field of live action programs, motion pictures, or animation featuring entertainment, namely, action, adventure, dramatic, comedic, children's and documentary themes." Earlier this month Take-Two said that GTA V is "making great progress" and that we can expect to hear more about the game in the coming months.

Grand Theft Auto V Will Be Set in Los Angeles, May Star Multiple Characters

Strengthening long-standing rumors for years that the next Grand Theft Auto would be set in Los Angeles or a fictional version thereof, a source familiar with the game told Kotaku today that those rumors are true. GTA V will be set in some version of L.A., bringing the famous franchise to a place that last got the GTA treatment in the series' top-selling Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. (So much for our other dream GTA V cities.)

We're also hearing from multiple sources that the game will feature more than just one playable character. That would seem to be a natural evolution for the series. Following the release of the PlayStation 2's Grand Theft Auto III and Grand Theft Auto Vice City, PSP games set in the same cities as those console games let players control a single new character apiece. Those portable games helped establish the idea that there's more than one life worth living in a Rockstar-made GTA city.

Then, following the release of Grand Theft Auto IV the series' creators at Rockstar Games allowed gamers to play as a second and then a third character in the exact same high-definition version of Liberty City. Those who bought the base game and the two downloadable episodes could choose from the GTA IV's menu whether to play as Niko Bellic, Johnny Klebitz or Luis Lopez. Each had their own lengthy, interesting and distinct playable story. A GTA V that features more than one playable hero would extend this concept further.

Back when GTA IV was being shown to press, Rockstar representatives would stress the importance of the number in the title. As successful as Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas were, they noted, it was the game that preceded them, GTA III that was a paradigm shift. They hoped and believed that GTA IV, by being a numbered game would have and merit some outsized influence of its own. If that is still the company's philosophy, then after Grand Theft Auto IV's un-numbered episodes, The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony, a numbered GTA V should again merit special attention. Shifting cities was not sufficient cause for a new numbered GTA before. A change to the series' formula, however, one that gives players more than one controllable character, would.

Rockstar has had a lot of experience with L.A., working with Team Bondi to create a mid-20th-century version of it for this year's L.A. Noire, presenting a drive-able version in Midnight Club and, most famously of all, turning it into the amazing Los Santos as one of three featured cities in GTA: San Andreas.

Rockstar Games did not respond to requests for comment about GTA V today. Should we hear them, we'll update this piece. Otherwise, look for the official trailer for the new game on November 2.
Thank OHARA for that info on location!

Rumors Around!

An anonymous user on 4chan claiming to have connections to Rockstar Games has leaked information that supposedly details plot and gameplay elements from Grand Theft Auto V. Weve transcribed the information below for your viewing pleasure, but be warned: if any of these rumors are true, it will likely spoil GTAV (and maybe even Red Dead Redemption) for you. Read on at your own risk!
-The protagonist is Hispanic and his name is Adrian.
-It takes place in San Andreas in 2012. The Mayan end of the world is parodied a lot because of this.
-You start out in Los Santos and are in your rivals turf, Varrios Los Aztecas, after getting beaten up and robbed.
-The game revolves around money in a big deal. Id reveal the big idea, but I dont want to ruin it.
-Multiplayer is in again. There are a couple of new game modes, co-op story, and 32-player game modes for consoles and 64 player for PC. PC also includes dedicated servers.
-PC comes out on launch and is being ported by Leeds. From what they have shown us it is optimized much better than GTA 4.
-San Andreas includes all the same cities from GTA SA and this time they have all became ab it bigger as well as much more detailed.
-Gang turf wars are back. This time not only the general gang are in charge but different sets such as57th Ballas or the Eastside Azteca. They have their own graffiti. You can tag up stuff with custom sprays now too.
Now entering major spoiler territory. Possibly.
-In the end your protag dies once again like in RDR. Afterwards you play as his brother who inherits the money.
-The money I refer to comes from a massive drug trade that ships to San Andreas. Its fought over a lot throughout the story and it comes with lots of money. It has ties to your family so it becomes a bigger deal.
-The timeline continues off of GTA 4. It is referenced a lot. Im not really sure whether Niko dies but hes mentioned at least twice.
-Car modding is back so is lowriding of course.
-There are 9 radio stations. It features a range of music. Some of the rap is new, some is old. Theres a better selection than GTA 4 though IMO.
-Military has returned in the 6 star wanted level except they are referred to as National Guard.
-Cover system is upgraded and plays more smoothly.
-The moral decisions you saw in GTA IV have more effect on the story now. There are at otal of 4 unique endings. 2 bad, 2 good. Whether the protag dies in all of them youll just have to figure out since the endings are actually pretty cool.
-More girlfriends.
-Parachutes.
-Fun cheats are back!
The poster also claims that the Grand Theft Auto V trailer debuting on November 2 is one minute and four seconds long, and that it is relatively peaceful and shows off the city. Whether or not this is all bunk remains to be seen, although if his or her strangely specific claims about trailer length turn out to be true, we may have some serious spoilers on our hands.

Thanks to Dreams for this Information!
Dreams wrote i have a heap full of info for you i was gonna make my own thread but seeing as theres already a sticky theres no point id first like to state out that a possible release date is 5/24/12 as when you get to the part with the forsale sign in his yard it reads on the curb 2405 still not convinced? the name of the album in the trailer was released 5/24 sounds unlikely but rockstar has done this before.another thing is when the hispanic guy is running in the street and it shows a overhead the apartment on the left looks alot like jefferson aparments from gta san andreas. if you look back at the part with the for sale sign there is a bike in the back so those will be making a return. theres alot of bums so im taking it this has alot of poverty in this era.theres a freeway above the guy on the jet ski so there is going to be multiple states. the part with the hookers is in las venturas as its a dirt road and theres a desert in the background. this is stuff off the top of my head theres alot more i got but ill edit this post when i remember would appreciate credit as i spent nearly 100 times rewatching the trailer.
The part where there golfing is a blimp so its possible we may be able to fly these and the crop duster could be a mini game.

Possible Release Date!

Yesterday, Rockstar's brand new trailer for Grand Theft Auto V rocked the gaming world. One thing they didn't mention was a possible release date, but thanks to possible reveal on GameStop, we might have the official release date. As we saw, GTA V looks actually more complete than we might have originally anticipated. The minute and a half trailer showed more than you would expect from a typical release trailer, but I think we can all agree that GTA V is not going to be your typical game. According to GameStop.co.uk, Grand Theft Auto is set to release February 9, 2012, a mere three months away! Of course, games do get delayed so this might not be the final date.

GTAV Set in Los Santos and Includes Multiplayer
You've likely gleaned as much from yesterday's big Grand Theft Auto V debut trailer, but this morning's official announcement of the game from Rockstar confirms a "Los Santos" (Los Angeles-ish) setting, as well as the return of online multiplayer. "Grand Theft Auto V focuses on the pursuit of the almighty dollar in a re-imagined, present-day Southern California," the release reads, specifically pointing to "Los Santos and surrounding hills, countryside, and beaches" as the locales. Predictably, the announcement calls GTAV "the largest and most ambitious game Rockstar has yet created," and company co-head Sam Houser characterizes the project as "another radical reinvention of the Grand Theft Auto universe." From that debut teaser, we're ... awaiting further evidence of that "radical reinvention" Houser promises. But hey, at least it looks like planes are back in the mix! Despite making the game even more official, Rockstar has yet to announce a release window or platforms for the Rockstar North-led project.

GTA Set in Los Santos!

Firstly, and most obviously, it looks like the new title will be set in modern day San Andreas. We see some familiar locales such as Vinewood from the original San Andreas title spruced up in fancy HD-vision -- and judging from some elements of the trailer, it seems that we'll once again be leaving the cities to take to the hills and vineyards of the surrounding countryside as well as the built up areas. Topical modern-day references such as foreclosed properties also make an appearance, and there's a noticeable juxtaposition between imagery of rich and poor throughout.

A voiceover narrating the trailer suggests a character -- presumably our new protagonist -- has moved to the area in an attempt to leave behind his past in what he calls "that line of work." He wants to be "a good guy for once, a family man, a dad like all the other dads."

The trailer then ramps up the action with some chase sequences and the inevitable "car on fire" shot, suggesting that our family man's life won't be as simple as he'd hope. Good to know the game will feature more than just driving your kids to school in a 4x4.

More Rumors

1: The game world is absolutely massive and will push both xbox and PS3 to the very limit in terms of what it has accomplished. Yes, the main city is simply Los Santos however is it AT LEAST 4 times bigger than Liberty City in GTA 4 and that is just Los Santos. The surrounding country side, beaches, etc are massive. For instance, we saw the main character ( an African/American, early 30's) travel by car from the center of Los Santos into the wildnerness and it took over 15 minutes. The views were incredible from farmhouses with cattle, huge wind farms, an oil refinery which appeared to be living and breathing with nearly 100 NPCs working on machinery, operating vehicles, lifting and loaded, etc, unlike the gas works in GTA 4 which seemed to only house a few NPC at a time. The forests are more beautiful than those in RDR and featured people camping, young NPC drinking and dancing around campfires, people riding dirt bikes and jumping over logs, streams, etc. The water effects, forna, plants, trees all looked beautiful.

2: The shooting mechanics have been greatly improved with animations for diving, climbing, rolling and crawling all added for better realism. The re-loading animations for new ammo also look cooler, less static.

3: There is much more climbable elements in the world such as ladders, overhand climbing, etc.

4: There are animals in the game from dogs to cattle but at this time it is not confirmed if you will be able to harm the animals. Rockstar were able to get away with it in RDR as it was a true depiction of the world in which the game was set. Allowing dogs/cattle to die in a game sent in current times may cause headaches with PETA. Its unclear if Rockstar were joking here.

5: There are planes to pilot and they can be crashed into buildings if you choose to do so....

6: Rockstar have included many, many more interior locations such as a shopping mall, college campus, police station, a huge hospital and there is also a vast underground sewer network which one mission later in the game involves a jet ski chase that culminates in a Fugitive-esque waterfall jump ( there are nods to the ridiculous but awesome Ballad Of Gay Tony missions)

7: The city is full of NPCs jogging, weight-lifting, hitting on women, being chased on foot by cops, shopping, washing cars, fixing fences, moving home, filling up their cars, etc.

REAL JUICY INFO:

1: Cars can be upgraded/repaired and it has been considered to have a car have fuel forcing the player to fill her up.

2: The dating aspect of the game is gone. You still have a cell-phone but only people you will meet in the game will call you to ask you to do a mission or to ask you to do something else before the mission.

3: Weapons include the usual arsenal you'd aspect but the flamethrowers, remote mines, laxer trip mines and claymores are included. It is possible now to pick up random objects in a street/building to use as a weapon. There is also a museum where it is possible to steal old age swords, axes, etc.

4: it is possible to rupture a fuel line and if you shot at the trail of gasoline it will lead straight back to the car blowing it up.

5: mini games such as bowling, darts, etc have all gone. You can play basketball, weight train, arm wrestle, gamble and cage fight, enter triathlons, water races, canoeing, ab-sailing, rock climbing, base jumping, ski diving. More to be confirmed.

6: Character customization is back but only in terms of clothing, body weight, etc. The player you start off which, much like CJ, can't be altered by race, age, height, etc.

7: Rockstar said burglary missions may return but only as part of missions and not on neighborhood houses.

8: No children NPC at all. Ever.

9: There is now an ability to grab people and use as shields or in "hostage" situations.

10: The cops are much, much, much more realistic. If you kill somebody when you know there are no cops around you will not run the risk of a one star as often as you would in GTA4. The cops will use smoke and tear gas, dogs, riot gear and rams to knock down the doors of buildings you are hiding in.

11: You can enter some buildings and lock doors, push objects in the way to barricade.

12: You become better at things as the game progresses. If you only ride motorbikes then you will increase your skills, same as individual weapons.

13: Certain weapons can be customizable and some even home-made.

14: One mission involves breaking out a very familiar GTA icon from a previous game...

15: Torrential rain fall and sunshine and even tremors will appear in the game.

DAN HOUSER - GTA 5 MAP WILL BE 'VERY BIG'

In a recent interview with Game Informer magazine, Dan Houser made it clear that Grand Theft Auto 5 will have a "very big map", while also seemingly confirming that Los Santos is the only major city in the game.

Dan Houser: I've got to be real careful here, or they will drag me through the office and whip me with barbwire. I will stick to exactly what's in the press release. It's Los Santos and the surrounding countryside - and a very big map.
While this would appear to back up Rockstar's initial press release about the game being set in Los Santos, we still can't call it 100% confirmed. The fact that Dan explained he would "stick to the press release" would appear to show he doesn't want to give anything away that Rockstar aren't ready to discuss - but that there clearly there is more to tell. Whether that is the inclusion of other cities (such as San Fierro and Las Venturas), time will tell.

Until we receive any further information however, the facts as they stand are that GTA 5 is set in Los Santos and will feature a very big map.

A MASSIVE LEAK OF INFO!

Warning: Number 8 on the list contains spoilers of past Rockstar titles (RDR and L.A Noire).

1. The protagonist will be one character, and one character alone. His name is (as some rumours said) Albert De Silva. He's a half hispanic man who was once part of a crime family in Vice City. He decided to settle down and have kids in Los Santos. He has one son called Kevin De Silva who is your stereotypical CoD player. He's lazy, useless and shouts racial abuse online and is really into FPS games. Kevin does admire his Dad though.

2. Multiplayer will hold 32 people on the Xbox and PS3. I wasn't told how many were able to be on the PC. Just like in RDR, players will be able to form Gangs. These gangs are not ranked through XP anymore, but via Reputation. Instead of gang hideouts, you can do jobs that range from robbing a launderette to breaking into a military base and stealing state-of-the-art weaponary. The Gang leader has much more control over his or her gang by being able to rank members of their gang and setting more specific objectives to specific members of their gang. Gangs can have their own terratory but this only applies to areas inside the city of Los Santos.

3. The map is about 5x as large as the GTA IV map and the City of Los Santos takes up just under half of this area (so it's a bit bigger than 2 GTA IV Liberty Cities). The map is (like most GTAs) seperated into three different sections.

4. Planes are flyable, they range from World War 2 fighter planes to Private Jets.

5. Cars and guns are customisable to an extent, for example, you can customise a gun to have a supressor on it and you can install nitrous into cars.

HERE'S SOME STUFF YOU MIGHT LIKE:

1. The protagonist is the "rich guy" from the GTA V debut trailer. You get to learn more about this man in the second when he talks about his troubles. You only see the protagonist twice in the trailer. First time is the side of his face and second time is when he is driving a Deceptor (Audi R8). The people robbing the jewellery store are just with the protagonist. He is driving the van ready to get away.

2. Gunfights are more realistic. When you are shooting a gun out of a window of a car, depending on how fast it's going you will have troubles aiming due to shaking cameras.

3. The game is due in May 2013. A more specific date has not been decided because the game is still needing 6 months to be fully developed. They will have a playable demo at E3.

4. Police chases are now way more than either running or driving. Depending on how wanted you are, police may bring out riot shields and flash bangs.

5. When someone reaches 4 star wanted level, there will be a radio warning on some stations.

6. Radio stations now do traffic reports that are actually correct. So if you don't know what route to take, you can check the traffic reports on your phone or the radio.

7. The in-game TV now has many more channels.

8. The protagonist DOES NOT die unlike in Red Dead Redemption and L.A. Noire.

9. The underworld actually has a working economy that you can contribute to by buying and selling drugs, weapons and illegal cars in single player.

10. The protagonist can take drugs which will have some effects. But smoking weed on the streetwalk will lead to getting a one star wanted level.

11. Police cars will go after you if you're obviousely breaking the speed limit. Having high speed crashes will also damage your health.

WANTED LEVELS:

1 star - police follow you on foot and try to make an arrest. No sirens, no car chases (unless you are speeding).

2 star - police will still attempt to make an arrest. If a weapon is drawn then the police will begin opening fire. Police will use stun guns if a weapon is not drawn.

3 star - Chases begin and the police don't care how they stop you, they just want to do it.

4 star - road traps, radio stations and much more hostile police.Even when you have evaded them, they will still search for 24 in-game hours for someone matching your description.

5 star - shoot to kill, arrest only if it's made very possible. Even when you have evaded them, they will still search for 48 in-game hours for someone matching your description. Few missions become unavailable if you are wanted.

6 star - military vehicles come after you. Even when you have evaded them, they will still search for 72 in-game hours for someone matching your description. Some missions become unavailable if you are wanted.

Grand Theft Auto V Found in Social Club Files

With info so scarce on Grand Theft Auto V, Rockstar Games fans sift through as much dirt as they can to find a speck of gold. This time the name "Grand Theft Auto V" and "GTA V" have been found hidden away in some XML files of the official Rockstar Games Social Club:

The first XML file is here or see below if it gets changed. It involves videos:

Before you scream "typo!" note that GTA IV is also listed and for Rockstar to mess that up, it would mess up their website too. Also note the Game of the Year Edition of Red Dead Redemption is also listed in the first pic as well as L.A. Noire too. An interesting thing is that Beaterator is shown in the second pic for Multiplayer Events.

What's noticeable is that AGENT is not listed in either file, even though it is listed at the Social Club as "coming soon". That title is being developed by Rockstar North, who is the main studio in the GTA series. Perhaps development of AGENT has been pushed back to make way for Grand Theft Auto V? Maybe GTA V will indeed be announced for release after Max Payne 3?

Let us know what you think of all this in the comments below or join the chat in the GTA 5 forums! Thanks to GTANF.com for finding this!

EDIT: This has since been taken out of the coding.

Rockstar Acknowledges GTA Fans

Rockstar is currently in full marketing mode with the recent announcement and trailer launch of Max Payne 3, due for release in March 2012.

Despite their best efforts, fans have persistently been asking about Grand Theft Auto and we're all too familiar with how they avoid such questions! However, thanks to a Max Payne 3 Q&A session on Rockstar's own Newswire, there has finally been some form of acknowledgement to the series.

"When are we going to see a new GTA????? #bestgameever" - received via Twitter
"When's the new grand theft auto coming out?" - received via Twitter

Big, big shout to all Grand Theft Auto fans worldwide who we know are anxious to hear about what's next for the franchise but we don't have any news at this time. All we can say is, right now, we're focused on our next upcoming releases which are Max Payne 3 as well as L.A. Noire for PC, Red Dead Redemption Game of the Year Edition and Max Payne for mobile devices. When and if we have anything to report regarding the Grand Theft Auto franchise, you know that we'll do so here at the Newswire or on our Twitter or Facebook.

Rockstar Newswire

Rockstar have informed us all that we're getting no news or information in the near future. The questions could easily have been avoided, so props to Rockstar for asking fans to exercise a little patience during the promotion of other games.

Take from the answer what you will. The tenth anniversary of GTA III is around the corner, so there has been speculation amongst fans that Rockstar may treat us to a surprise before the year is out. That aside, it is still looking more and more likely that 2012 will be the year we will hear more.

Key Points from Take-Two Financial Report

Take-Two Interactive today revealed their first quarter earnings for fiscal year 2012. Of course, Grand Theft Auto V was not announced, but some interesting points for their future were raised and questioned.

Statements included that they have some unannounced titles for release during the next fiscal year that we will hear about in the "coming months". A particular statement, repeated from the last financial report, was that they expect to exceed a net income of $2 per share in fiscal year 2013 (April 2012 - March 2013).

Following the report, during a Q&A session, an attendee questioned how they expect to reach such a maximum without a GTA release that year. Strauss Zelnick, CEO of T2, evaded the question and diverted his answer to titles they have already announced for release that year such as BioShock Infinite and Borderlands 2.

To put these numbers in perspective, the last time T2 did reach such an income is during the release of Grand Theft Auto IV, in which they recorded $2.08 per share. In comparison, income reached $1.06 per share during the release of Red Dead Redemption and is projected to reach up to $0.35 for the current fiscal year, where LA Noire and Duke Nukem Forever have been their main new titles.

It is safe to say that the statement by T2 encourages shareholders to expect something big, or at least a high earner, during fiscal 2013. While we are not all accountants, the numbers are clear for us to draw out some speculation about a release date, and 2012-2013 has always been plausible amongst the community.

GTA V unlikely until 2012 Analyst

Take-Two recently announced it was shifting its fiscal year to end on March 31 in order to better put it in line with other major game publishers. Janco Partners analyst Mike Hickey issued an analyst note, which laid out some predictions for the New York-based publisher. Namely, that it will remain profitable even if the next Grand Theft Auto doesnt come out during its next fiscal year.
Hickey believes that Take-Twos 2011 fiscal year, which runs from April 1, 2011, until March 31, 2012, will feature two major game highlights: Max Payne 3 and L.A. Noire. He thinks those two games will lead a software lineupwhich may also include the long-delayed Duke Nukem Foreverthat can make the company profitable in a year without a GTA or a Red Dead game.
When GTA V does come out, likely in Take-Twos fiscal 2012 (April 2012-March 2013), Hickey believes it will be yet another blockbuster, selling upward of 16 million copies and generating over $750 million by itself. He predicts that year will also see the release of BioShock Infinite, which he estimates will sell over 4 million copies and $182 million in sales.
One major reason for the high sales expectations is the increased combined PlayStation 3/Xbox 360 installed based in the US, which he believes will be 41 million units by the end of calendar year 2010. That compares to just 14 million in April 2008, when Grand Theft Auto IV originally came out.

Take-Two not ready to talk about a new Grand Theft Auto game

During the Kaufman Brothers, L.P. Investor Conference in New York City, Ben Feder, the CEO of Take-Two Interactive, picked up several interesting topics and made a brief comment regarding the next Grand Theft Auto game. Feder started off by pointing out that Take-Two will be profitable for the first time in nearly a decade without a major Grand Theft Auto release, adding that the publisher remains focused only creating a select number of AAA titles.
As for the next Grand Theft Auto game Feder said they are not ready to talk yet.
Unfortunately, weve said everything were going to say about Grand Theft Auto, I appreciate everyones concern and interest as to when the game is coming out, he said. Were not prepared to announce it today, but when we are, well let you know.

The huge success of Red Dead Redemption was also mentioned along with the belief that in the digital content space DLC not only extends the life of its products but also bridges gaps between releases and keeps the brand fresh in gamers mind. Luckily the upcoming title L.A. Noire was also mentioned. Feder said that L.A. Noire: has got technology and gameplay that isnt available anywhere else. So thats definitely something to keep being excited about!

9 Things GTA 5 Could Take From Rockstar's Other Games

Since GTA IV was released, Rockstar have released a number of other games with new features previously unseen in the world of GTA. A number of these features, brought on by new technology, could be implemented in GTA 5 to build upon the experience of previous games. Afterall, Rockstar went through the trouble of creating this stuff, why not re-use it?

1. Replaying Missions
Although it was technically added in the latest Grand Theft Auto game; "The Ballad of Gay Tony" and included in the portable "Chinatown Wars", the ability to replay missions has appeared in all of Rockstar's new games since then, including "Red Dead Redemption" and "LA Noire". This feature gives the player incentive to complete missions over and over to earn a better rating and to unlock trophies or achievements. Through the Rockstar Games Social Club, users can also be ranked on the online leaderboard too which greatly increases the games replay value. It's very likely that Grand Theft Auto 5 will also include this feature.

2. Animals
Rockstar haven't included animals in any of their games prior to Red Dead Redemption (unless you count seagulls and pigeons). Police dogs were rumoured for games as far back as San Andreas, but never appeared leading some to believe Rockstar didn't want you to shoot defenceless animals. However after allowing you to ride, hunt and skin them in the wild west, there is a large possibility that animals will make an appearance in the next GTA game. Police dogs would make the most sense, but if the game features a large countryside, we may be able to 'accidentally' splatter various wildlife on the front of our trucks.

3. Free Roam Multiplayer Missions
On Grand Theft Auto IV's multiplayer you either played Free Roam and just drove around the city doing stunts, or played a game mode and did missions or completed other objectives. Red Dead Redemption introduced free roam missions where the player could do what they wanted, when they wanted while also allowing them to complete gang hideout missions to earn XP and unlocks. GTA 5 could implement this feature and allow groups of gamers to team up and complete online missions against non-playable characters. Given it's popularity in RDR, it would make perfect sense for it to be included in Grand Theft Auto V.

4. Parachutes

The Ballad of Gay Tony introduced parachutes, allowing the player to base jump from tall buildings or helicopters. This feature also existed in GTA San Andreas. With strong rumours that GTA V will be set in or around the same area as San Andreas the ability to parachute from way up high could well make a return.

5. Multiplayer Mini-Games
Grand Theft Auto IV featured a number of mini-games in single player, such as pool, darts, bowling etc, however these games weren't available online. Red Dead Redemption however did introduce a number of it's games to the online community through it's "Liars And Cheats" pack. This allowed users to play card games against each other over the internet. Given it's popularity, it would make a lot of sense for Rockstar Games to include similar functionality for GTA 5's mini games, possibly through post-launch downloadable content.

6. Climbing Terrain
LA Noire required detective Cole Phelps to climb up and down all sorts of objects in order to find evidence to solve crimes. Up until this point, none of Rockstar's major releases featured the ability to interact with the terrain in such a way. Ladders existed in previous GTA's but weren't usable. It's definitely possible that GTA5 will include the ability to climb ladders and poles and possibly also allow the player to physically climb up buildings, objects and walls in a similar way to Cole in Sucker Punch's "inFamous".

7. Car Collecting
Grand Theft Auto III featured a number of Import/Export garages which required the player to deliver specific cars which were found all over the city. Upon completion of the vehicle list, the player was able to access any vehicle they had delivered. In LA Noire, one of the objectives for 100% completion was to drive every single vehicle in the game. Considering this game is called Grand Theft Auto, we haven't really seen any major car collecting since the GTA 3 series games and Rockstar could add this feature to the new GTA game; either requiring you to drive every vehicle in the game - which has never been done before in a GTA game, or collect and deliver various vehicles to specific garages or cranes.

8. Downloadable Missions
While Grand Theft Auto IV was blessed with some of the best downloadable content for any game, what it received was effectively two new stand-alone games as add-ons which were set in the same city and followed around the same storyline. LA Noire however, received a number of downloadable cases (or missions if you will) which could be a feature implemented by Rockstar Games for Grand Theft Auto V. Keeping the game fresh for people after completion. We have already seen something similar in Red Dead Redemption with Social Club challenges, however more detailed single player missions for download for around 1 could be a nice little earner for Rockstar and keep fans of the game happy. Rockstar could even really push the boat out and include a mission builder similar to that seen in inFamous 2, allowing gamers to create and share their own missions with the online community, providing unlimited replay value for the game!

9. Decision Making
Both LA Noire and Red Dead Redemption expanded on GTA IV's ability to decide whether to do something or not. In LA Noire, your choices can affect how the game progresses - more on a case by case basis. GTA IV's decisions did somewhat change certain aspects of the story, however not in a major way. Rockstar could be looking to implement this system once again, but in more detail. Perhaps the way you complete missions will affect which other missions are available, or how much gangs respect you, such as the system seen in GTA 2. Carl 'CJ' Johnson voice-actor Young Maylay also mentioned Rockstar may be expanding the decision making in an interview a number of months ago.

New Grand Theft Auto 5 Evidence: The Man-Boy Love Activist

A series of casting calls that were discovered earlier this month seemed to point towards a project known as 'Rush' being the code name for Grand Theft Auto 5. The pieces certainly appeared to fit, but there was no direct connection between that information and the GTA series. A newly-posted casting call for voice actors lists one of the characters as James Pedeaston, the name of a child molester from the GTA series.
The call is seeking a man in the 40-45-year-old range for the role. Pedeaston is described as "a man-boy love activist who just got released from an Indonesian prison." He was around during both Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Grand Theft Auto IV, the latter of which is where the image to the right comes from. He was a radio show host who was arrested in Indonesia, with Rockstar setting up a fake website at freejames that asked for donations to his legal fund. (The website now forwards to the official GTAIV site.)

The other four characters would fit right into the GTA universe as well, with Samantha -- "a young female obsessed with sex parties, always dreaming of being a Hollywood celebrity" -- seemingly perfect for the game's rumored Hollywood setting.

Next GTA code-named Rush, set in LA?

Up until recently, the Grand Theft Auto franchise was publisher Take-Two Interactive's main moneymaker. Since then, Take-Two has begun to expand its top-flight portfolio with the likes of Red Dead Redemption and BioShock 2. However, the franchise that continues to command the most attention remains GTA.

Nearly three years removed from the top-rated release of GTAIV, and it's possible that the first tidbits of GTAV info have been puzzled out by Superannuation. The posts began in late February, when the Internet sleuth discovered an actor's resume with a since-deleted reference to motion-capture work on Grand Theft Auto V. This motion-capture find, he said, led him to further investigation into motion-capture casting calls for Rockstar's go-to casting studio Telsey & Company.

GTA may be returning to Los Santos.
"Among the projects listed in the casting call was an 'interactive project' called 'Rush,' which featured characters that fit with the few details I heard about GTA5; outlandish characters, weed, gangsters, & celebrities fit the profile for a contemporary LA-set GTA game," Superannuation tweeted.

The casting call in question, which commenced on December 6, sought actors to do motion capture and voice work for eight "additional principal characters" on the interactive project. The personalities have a decidedly Rockstar feel, with stock characters such as the "annoying, wise cracking, highly successful FBI agent" mixed with absurd personalities such as the "Welsh monk / cult leader / yoga teacher - 50, very lithe, very into exploring your personal tension through gripping massage."

Other characters referenced in the listing include a "weed evangelist"; a "swinger, mellow Californian divorcee" who is "ugly but comfortable with self"; and a "publicist for an actress known as America's newest sweetheartwho just so happens to love animals, orphans, drugs and sex."

Superannuation also secured a direct link between "Rush" and Rockstar Games, again courtesy of a self-promotional actor. On September 9, professional wrestler and aspiring actor Robert Esparza tweeted, "Got body scanned for my role in the video game 'Rush', coming out on Rockstar Games."

Should Rockstar choose to set GTAV on the West Coast, it wouldn't be a first for the franchise. The highly regarded GTA: San Andreas featured Los Angeles and San Francisco-inspired cities, complete with their surrounding boroughs. Of course, it wouldn't be the first time that Rockstar has returned to a locale, as GTAIV and GTAIII both took place on the mean streets of Liberty City, which bears more than a passing resemblance to New York.

Bogus or Not Bogus?: A very tentative not bogus. What seems clear, at least, is that Rockstar is prepping some project under the name "Rush" and that the project will have an eclectic cast of characters that mesh with the GTA universe. Unfortunately, Take-Two has not even announced GTAV yet, so it may be some time before the industry gets an official look at the title.

Grand Theft Auto V development 'well under way'

Saying that Rockstar Games is working on a new Grand Theft Auto game isn't exactly a bold prediction. However, sources close to the Take-Two Interactive subsidiary have confirmed to GameSpot that the next installment in the blockbuster series is "well under way" and is already having final touches such as minigames being applied to it. The sources said a 2012 release was "pretty likely," adding that the game's scale was vast.

"It's the big one," they said.

Development of the next GTA is "well under way."
Unfortunately, the sources would not divulge any further details on the project, which is already the subject of much speculation. A recent set of casting calls from a talent agency point to the game as being set in a Los Angeles-like metropolis, with a motley crew of California characters being filled for a voice-over session. Prior rumors had the game being set in the Miami clone Vice City.

As of press time, Rockstar reps did not have any comment on casting calls, the game's setting, or whether a new GTA was even in development.

Wherever the next GTA is set, it will have some big shoes to fill. Its predecessor, Grand Theft Auto IV, was a massive success for Rockstar and Take-Two. As of March 2011, the game had sold nearly 20 million copies, placing it among the top-selling games of all time. Its forebearer, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, sold more than 12 million units globally, with its domestic 9.8 million-unit haul putting it in NPD's top 10 US best sellers of the 2000s.

I want a zombie survival mode. Was hoping it'd be an add on for GTA IV as Liberty City would have been ideal for it.

Very excited for GTA V !!!
