Try re downloading Xexmenu here if it fails to boot still you're either corrupting Xexmenu some how or your console isn't hacked...

I have been re-doing it for hours on end now, at least 30 times! how can i tell if my Xbox is a Jtag (I have only just brought it) and is there anything else that works the same way as XeX which i could install instead? Thanks, and yes its saying 'corrupted' everytime? how do i get that to go away?

ok bro im try to explain it and it works everytime i try it if this doesnt work for you that means your console is not a jtag or rgh

download xex menu to your desktop
if your usein a usb (i would say use a usb its much easier)open with usbextaf thenopen content
make a folder called "000000000000000" that should be 16 zero's
open the xex menu that you downloaded on your desktop
their should be a code9999 folder
drag that folder into the content folder
then load it up to your jtag and you should be good to go

Sounds like someone has sold you a Retail xbox claiming it was a JTAG or RGH, turn the console off and then eject the DVD drive, if a blue screen appears (Xell) then your console is hacked, if not then it is just a retail xbox. If your console is hacked then I advise doing what -Orca- said, it could be that your HDD is malfunctioning or corrupt.

ok basically i brought this Jtag so that i could host and stuff right(pretty standard) but ive put MY old retail HDD in the top? would that be altering anything to the supposive JTAG? By the way my kernel is at: 2.0.14719.0 ? is that badd?

Do what i said, turn it on by ejecting the DVD tray and see if you have Xell (A blue screen) if you do its a JTAG

Just try to reload it onto the useb or find a new file as the xex file might be currupted.

1st: Listen to regalz. He knows what he's talking about.

2nd: No, the JTAG hack is a motherboard hack, not a HDD hack. Changing the hard drive will not alter it.
