Well last year i jail broke my family's ipod touches, well since the 3.1.3 iso i upgraded them how ever i did mine way before i did theres so now mine is at 5.0.1, but i now updated all my family's ipods and it will only go to 4.2.1 it says it is the newest firmware but it isn't it has a full black background and it wont add a picture to the bakc behind the apps i have restored the devices multiple times even tried to download the newest one and do it from there can anyone help and has anyone else had this problem?

2nd and 3rd gen ipod touches can only go up to 4.2.1

then try updating it with itunes on your computer

If it's jailbroken, don't you just update/use the jailbreak again in the newest version?
Not that familiar with iPods but I never heard of it being updated officially.

It wont update any further unless you get cydia and put the new operating system on or i could do it for you on team viewer ?

Best not to use some custom firmware for 5.0.1, it's probably already quite laggy.

If there not 4th generations then thats as far as they will go Firmware wise but if they are your jailbreaking might have tricked your computer into thinking it was a 2nd gen where you cant wave wallpapers only lockscreen wallpapers and your going to want to g into recovery and restore agian and see if it works
