As I recall seeing people ask this many many times before I thought I would go over the differences of both versions. The following will be a list of pros and cons I found about the game. If you have a opinion you would like to throw out there go for it.

Pros

A main advantage I found on the Xbox version is being able to talk to your friends free of typing. This makes it much easier and clearer for everyone in the game. I find it sort of hard to make tight friends with anyone on the PC because you can't really talk, you must type. Another big advantage not necessarily for me but for others is if you have a slow computer then Minecraft won't run as smooth as it would on the Xbox. I rarely ever experience lag on the Xbox edition compared to the PC version.

Cons

I found surprisingly a lot of cons about the Xbox Edition. One of the cons being that the Xbox version is downgraded and simplified. For example something as simple as making your world has less features. On the PC version you have the option to generate flatland or toggle off structures. There is also a lot more Items on the PC version like pistons and creative spawnables (spawn cows sheep, villagers, extra...). If you are in to modding there are some fun mods for the PC like modded clients that allow you to use xray and super jump. There are also a lot of server disadvantages but I will get into that more in the PC pros. You also loose the option to make skins and texture packs. I quite enjoyed skins and they could be available to the Xbox in the future but knowing Microsoft they will make you pay for them and most people won't buy them. My final complaint is that the Xbox edition does not include creative (all items, god mode, fly) which could possibly be available in the future.

Pros

One huge advantage for playing on the PC is something called bukkit servers. These servers are modded and allow you to add any plugin (or mod) you want. Some popular plugins are ranks, world edit (spawn anything you want such as walls, trees, floors, anything), and plugins that disable the option for certain people to destroy certain objects. There are also by default around 50 server commands and that can go up when you add plugins adding up to the thousands. You can have hundreds of people in a server at a time instead of 8 and there are just overall a lot more server features. Next is controls... I am not a PC gamer at all but I prefer PC controls over Xbox because they make more sense and just easier. The PC version also has creative and many options when generating worlds. Minecraft tends to be a lot easier to manager your worlds and just about everything else compared to the PC.

Cons

Aside from voice chat and smoothness the PC version does not have a lot of cons. The only cons I found are people that own servers aren't really nice all the time. Also modding can be a issue. It is much easier to mod on the PC compared to Xbox. Creating a online game for friends can be a challenge for some people that aren't that good with computers. Once you get a good server going it is much better than the Xbox.

Well there you have it.. It's all about preference and the materials around you. I have some friends in real life that play Minecraft a little bit everyday and I enjoy playing with them over some random person on a server. If you don't mind the cons that is the way to go. I have bought both versions and play both. However despite all the cons I have to go with Xbox for me, it's all about playing with someone else. Although PC is much better I enjoy myself more on the Xbox. For me its all about playing with your buds..

On the other note, I don't want hate or flaming on my topic. If you disagree with me you can say so it a mature manner not "this guy is tsupid bros i like pc for hackzzz".

The "Pro" of being able to talk to your friends.. Have you ever heard of skype, teamspeak or other similar programs.. they are what minecraft users use.

I have them both. But The PC one is WAYYY BETTER than the xbox one.

On the pc you have:
-way bigger maps
-mods
-texture packs
-skins
-servers
-rarely any lag
-maps loads completely unlike the xbox one

the only good things about the Xbox ones are:
- Servers are way easily made
- team speak
