Do not get an AlienWare and do not buy any brand name computer. Look into Building your own computer on Newegg.com. Great prices and Fantastic service.

Buy the parts separately and build it yourself. You can easily make yourself a $2.5k rig for 1500.

A Thinkpad X230 is perfect for you. Compared to a Macbook, this has a better keyboard, a better screen, better battery life, better I/O, better cooling, better durability, better upgrade-ability, better specs, better compatibility, and a better price.

Also, nothing you said you do requires anything more than integrated graphics.
