Here are the instructions:
1. Download these following programs:
TinyUmbrella [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Redsn0w [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
iOS 5.1.1 [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
2. Run TinyUmbrella and save your SHSH! (if you have already done that then skip this step)
3. Open Redsnow and navigate to 'Extras' - 'SHSH Blobs'.
4. Click on the 'Stich' button and click 'IPSW' then search for the iOS 5.1.1 firmware which you have downloaded.
5. Click on 'local' then browse for the SHSH that you have backed up. It should be located at C:\Users\(USERNAME)\.shsh (Redsn0w should be in an process of creating your custom firmware)
6.Click on 'Pwned DFU' and follow the on screen instructions which will show you how to put your iPod in a Pwned state.
7. After when your iPod is in a Pwned state then simply lauch iTunes.
8. Plug your iPod into your computer and get ready for a restore
9. when you are about to restore make sure you hold the 'shift' key on your keyboard as well as clicking the restore button. A window should pop up.
10. Navigate to your custom firmware and double click it ( it should be located on your desktop)
11. itunes should be restoring your iPod successfully until you hit an error which is called error 1.
12. Don't worry about this error because there is a bypass. After the error is hit your computer then immediately open Redsn0w again.
13. Navigate to 'Extras' and click on 'Recovery Fix'.
14. Follow the steps on 'Recovery Fix' and be patient with it.
15. Finally, after when 'Recovery Fix' has done its job then your iPod touch should reboot and it should be in a usable state again
