Are you sure your chat volume is turned up? Is the volume turned up on the Xbox also?
Try taking the cable out and putting it back in a few times.

1. Turn your xbox off then on again
2. Disconnect then reconnect your controller
3. Put the chat wire in a different Way
4. If it stil doesnt work PM me

Or you plug in the wire make sure wire is pointing down
Then keep pushing it in then while your pushing it in wrap the cord around the controller twice
This is what worked for me when I had a wired mic

Make sure your chat volume is up! That could be the main problem.
