You can contact Microsoft and tell them that someone gave you a code from a different region and they'll give you one from your region..

You must use a code from your region, XBox does NOT replace your code if purchased in a different region. All XBox consoles, games, points, subscriptions and content are region specific, and will not work in other regions. It is not possible to utilize a prepaid code, if you create an account for that region, because once you go online and try to redeem it, your ISP will link you to your regions LIVE, and you will not be able to make the purchase because the system will know the region does not match.

The code has to be specific to your region.

Same thing happened to me i traded my 12month for 3 1600's and i cant use em cause im in canada.
XBL gold codes from other countries tho.
