The effects and cgi were cool, but I guess that's expected of a newer film. The plot though... the plot just made absolutely no sense. The writing was terrible, the story followed no real logical path, the characters were dull and stupid. The entire thing made me really sad; so much wasted potential on a film with such poor execution.

I thought the movie was really cool. I liked it a lot!

This movie is kind of like an Origins story (sort of). It shows you the team who found the Engineers, but also how the aliens they had evolved. From what I saw, I think this is how it goes: The Engineers eat/drink/swallow the black stuff from the beginning of the movie, that causes them to break down, but once he lands in the water the cells start to split again (possibly creating us [he was in water when the cells began to re-create and we are mostly water]).

The next thing is that when Shaw goes to the Medical Chamber thing and has the C-Section to get that octopus looking out. That octopus thing attacks the Engineer and at the end the Alien comes out of the Engineer. That isn't exactly the Alien from the Alien movies, but it possibly evolves into the Alien from the movies.

As for Aliens vs Predators, it has absolutely nothing to do with Prometheus nor the Aliens movies. AVP is based on the comics that were created. The Predators put the Aliens on Earth to hunt them, the reason they chose Earth is because they could breed with us. Therefor, it is just following the AVP comics that were created.

Well where do I start. It takes place before ALL of the Alien movies. The Giant monster at the end is the first "facehugger" And it plants the "Queen" Inside the Engineer. So that is what makes the Aliens we all grew to love.
