The AKG K550 is a really nice closed neutral headphone for that price range.

Hey I got those Grado SR125i you recommended and they are great I really love them, they sound great for the music I am listening to atm, rock. But would they be good for electric... pop.. ish music?? Its considered Progressive Synth Pop lol.

The point is, would getting different headphones for around $125 make a noticeable difference from the Grado SR125i I have now? I do want to widen my knowledge of headphones, and music in general aswell.

What people generally like to do is buy a pair of headphones that are a great contrast to what they have. The Grados are aggressive and bright, so a more laid-back, warmer or darker headphone would be a nice compliment. Something bassy, perhaps. The V-Moda LP, Ultrasone HFI-580, and Creative Aurvana Live come to mind. The Ultrasone sound appeals to me for electronic music, but I actually find myself enjoying most electronic genres with my Grados despite their lack of bass. I'm thinking of music like this, if you're wondering:



I like them for trance, drum & bass, electronica, IDM, house, etc. They surprised me in that regard.

That's an interesting sound. Sounds a lot like some IDM to me, you might like Aphex Twin.





Selected Ambient Works 85-92 is my favorite album of electronic music.

If you're going to stick with the Grados, make sure you put yourself in a position to try other headphones! The more sound signatures you get to try, the closer you'll be to finding your perfect headphone! It really is a journey, and unfortunately a hard one since it's hard to find good headphones to demo.

I'm not really into electronic music right now. That artist I showed you, John Frusciante has never done anything else like this before. Each album he releases is vastly different and he really creates his own style of music. Each album is very unique and does quite fit into 1 genre. Maybe once his album comes out I will find those songs more appealing.

But enough of John Frusciante, I am very anxious to begin my journey of finding the perfect headphone. Hopefully I will find some way of getting my hands on some good headphones to test them. And I know where to come if I ever need advise
