When I have my hard drive unplugged the xbox starts right and when its plugged in it randomly throws out e79 errors with the error code 1033. I hooked the hard drive up to another xbox and it starts right up, so I don't think the problem lies within the hard drive. Also, when ever I turn my console on, it takes me to the xbox set up screen, where you pick your location, screen resolution, ect. I can set it all up but when I get to the part where I need to create an account or choose an existing account it wont let me. I click A to choose a profile, and a box comes up and disappears quickly. The xbox was working yesterday but I was not able to add anyone to my friends list or view messages/invite people to my game. I'm not sure what happened between yesterday and today to make it stop working, but I was running flawlessly for two whole days before this started happening.

Could re-flashing the original nand and then flash freeboot possibly fix my problems?

Another thing I forgot to mention was I did get banned yesterday. I'm not sure if that has to do with any of my problems.

Thanks for helping.

In my experience e79 is usually a wiring issue. If you can, check your JTAG hack wires. If you don't want to open your xbox up, try reflashing the nand. Good luck!

The only thing with that, is the xbox works when the hdd is unplugged. I do still get stuck at the choose an existing account screen though.

Sorry for the double post, but I did manage to get rid of the e79 error. My next problem is that I can't get past the Xbox set up screen. It won't let me choose an existing profile or create one.

Is it normal for the Xbox to boot up to this screen?

Also when the jtag worked, I was not able to receive or send messages because, when ever I would click to view messages the box would pop up and automatically disappear, which is what it is doing when I try and select an account. Is this normal? If not, how would I go about fixing it?
