It depends if you are awake at night and sleep during the day, or you literally mean when you stay up late after being awake all day. Whether you know you're tired or not, your body and mind is fatigued. That can lead to hallucinations. I'm not saying that's what it is but just something you can't rule out. Now if you are the nocturnal type, then you may be dealing with something paranormal.
