I'd just like to, once again, praise you for your great work on this topic, keep it up. ;)

I have a quick question about a mouse I picked up the other day.

This is what I picked up:

It seems to be working pretty well for me, I just wanted to know if it was worth the price, or if I could have gotten something with the same or better productivity at a lower price.

Thanks.

It's not bad at all, but it's not the best. It's a great mouse, but there are other options like the Logitech G400 that are as good but significantly cheaper. Nothing to return it over, though, and a lot of people prefer the Razer styling. If you're a claw or finger grip, take it back for the G9X for sure. If possible, though, try different mice out as personal preference is huge.

Oslo wrote Hey root BEER. My budget is probably around $850, and I need a good laptop that will last me a long time and that has a USB 3.0, and preferably high memory/space. Whatever I'm not a computer guy.

The HP Folio 13 is a great option if you want an ultrabook as it's got good features on a budget, but it actually sounds like a Thinkpad would be perfect for you (SURPRISE!!!!!).

One thing that makes Thinkpads so different is longevity. I see people carrying around their 6 year old X60Ts which still run like new. My T500 is pushing 4 years old and it's really not showing age. The internals might fall behind, but the durability and design make that not such a big deal. People keep these things forever and they keep up.

If you want to add a lot of RAM or hard drive capacity, Thinkpads are insanely easy to upgrade. I'll remind you that RAM doesn't make your computer faster, though, and is only useful if you're using it. I never get past 4GB, so more than that is completely pointless. I went with 8 because I got it so cheap, about $5 per gigabyte right now.

^^ This link is to the Lenovo Outlet, where you can get refurbished and new Thinkpads WAY cheap. They're in perfect condition, too, just make sure you avoid scratch and dent listings. It will take a minute to load, be patient even if it looks like it's not doing anything at all. I've set it to show only "real" Thinkpads, the T, X, and W series from low to high price. Don't worry about buying for example a T420 over a new T430, it really isn't that much of an upgrade and the keyboard was changed for the worse.

Right now, I'm looking at a T420 with an i7, 1600 x 900 panel, SSD, and 8GB of RAM for under $850. There's some good stuff right now! It changes fast, though, if you see a good deal, get on it quick. They come and go fast.

The thing is... I'm not sure which one I like better, my old mouse, or my new one. I had just gotten used to my old mouse, until it took a "trip" into a bowl of water. I was used to the way I held that one, and I can't quite get the grip of the "relaxed" feel of this mouse. Should I just do my best to adapt, or get a better mouse? I'm doing better competetively, it's just awkward handling the thing.

There's always an adjustment period, but it usually doesn't last. If you can't shake the awkwardness, I'd switch it up. Give it some good time, though, you'll probably come to like it. If you're a palm grip, the design is great.

You were asking a bit too much for 1000$. I did my best too keep it in the budget. I Could not include the speakers. If you want to spend extra ~35$ then take a look at this: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] (Cheapest Decent Speakers I could find.)
