(If you want to complain about the necessity of this thread on a "gaming" forum, report it rather than flame.)

I am 16 almost 17 and have had private education costing 10k a year and currently in the lower 6th form of my school (same as first year at college). I am contemplating joining the British army when I have finished my 6th form. However it means I will not go to university.

I am looking for advice off other people around my age that either have joined or about to join the army or have no ambition to join the army to get an external opinion.

What do you think?

Only if you want to. If I were you, I would finish school, then not join the army.

I do want to fight for my country and I am very interested in guns, warfare etc and always have been. I have done so much research into it but i'm looking for an unbiased opinion and reason.

Your parents have paid 1000's for you to get a good education and have a good job, No offense but if you join the army you throw it all in your parents face.

You're 1000% wrong too.

I played Divison III basketball for a semester at USM. I dropped out of college because several of my friends got killed in a car accident. Moved back home and joined the United States Navy. My parents paid for everything and my college was 100% paid for on scholarship...still wouldn't go back and change it for anything.

Still think serving your country and getting on the job training is better than anything a classroom can teach you.

Hence why I'm now moving into my new job, which pays...well, very well.

Yes, if you have the nerves to join, it's a solid and fulfilling life to serve your country, you should definitely join up if you want too.
