EA have told us that Fifa 12 ultimate team is going to be 'something special'. They replied on twitter that Ultimate team is going to be a whole new game, so does that mean it will be anew complete update from the Fifa 12 ultimate team, who knows?

Unfortunately they have done well in keeping Ultimate team secret, so we will have to wait until more information is un-veiled. It will be here first!

Be A Ref Mode

Be A Ref mode has been always one of the FIFA fans wishes since last year. If you go through our FIFA 12 Wishlist, you will see that many people have asked EA to put this feature in to the FIFA 12 game.

However FIFA 13 Be A Referee Mode feature has not been officially announced yet, David Rutter (FIFA 13 Producer) has mentioned in an interview just before FIFA 12 release day last year that EA Sports has been considering to add a Referee Mode in FIFA 12 but they couldnt make it for the previous FIFA game. He also mentioned that refereeing might be a mode along with Goalkeeper mode in FIFA 13.

According to some unconfirmed news, FIFA 13 will have Be A Referee mode playable in the game, where gamers will be able to control the referee on the pitch and decide on free kicks, showing cards, offsides and penalties as a ref. From Fifplay.com

Gameplay

Players are also gifted a newfound agency with the ball through FIFA 13s new dribbling controls. Built off the back of this years FIFA Street engine, FIFA 13 allows players to control the ball with amazing precision, and incredibly, the interface for this is breathtakingly simple pull both triggers, toggle the left stick and youre away.

EA Sports has also done a lot of work in the games Free-Kick mechanics. In the past, players were faced with only a couple of options play the ball off to a nearby player or blast it towards goal. Now, attackers have a whole host of options, which include adding fake kick-takers, playing the ball into space and lobbing the ball forward for players to header it in.

Defenders also have a new set of choices when squaring up to a free kick. They can add players to a wall, shimmy their wall forward, mark potential header threats or storm towards the kick-taker once the whistle goes. T3.com

Fifa 12 to Fifa 13 XP rewards

FIFA 12 fans will carry over their level and experience when they buy FIFA 13, as part of an on-going push towards a true-blue digital service. Presenting at E3 today, EA also announced an array of "special bonuses" - currency to spend on in-game items and kit.

"We're not just a game," apparently. "We are the global platform where people connect, compete, and celebrate their love of football." What do people who love football also love? They love Lionel Messi, formerly of Pro Evolution Soccer, who now serves as FIFA 13's cover star.

"Earn rewards, level up, enjoy live Challenges based on real-world soccer events, and connect with friends. Everything within FIFA 13, and against friends, is measured in a meaningful way," says a release of FIFA 13's version of Football Club.

"Earn rewards to unlock items like kits, special celebrations, Virtual Pro Attribute Boosts, and Career Mode Super Scout Credits from the new Football Club Catalogue. Plus, build status as you climb 100 levels.

"Real-world storylines drive regular challenges so that FIFA 13 will play like the real-world season. Support Your Club and compete against rivals in every area of the game, lifting your club higher in the league tables or helping them avoid relegation." OXM.com

Fifa 13 kinect

FIFA 13's Kinect features will allow you to call out directions to team mates. The game will also penalise you if you swear at the referee.

A gameplay segment was shown during Microsoft's E3 conference this evening. It all seems fairly straightforward - just yell out what you want the other player to do.

Expect the next game to consolidate its predecessor's bolder leaps instead. "Depending on what we're doing year to year and what our feature set will be, [FIFA 12's] probably one of the bigger years," producer David Rutter commented.

"Just the Player Impact [system] is probably the biggest change we've made to our gameplay code base since we moved over to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, so a big change there this year.

"We're not going to reinvent a brand new Player Impact engine for next year," he went on, "because the reason we've learnt this year is that it's future-proofing our game, but it's probably not going to be quite as dramatic as far as technology is concerned.

"But there'll be a large number of changes based around gameplay nuance on the back of that, perhaps. But we still don't know exactly what we're doing next year."

Work on FIFA 13 will commence sometime in October or November, Rutter revealed. The FIFA team feels able to get the best out of Kinect, having experimented at length with possible applications for the peripheral.

"We've kind of messing around and thinking of what would work, and since the Kinect came out, or the very first announcement almost two years ago, we've been asked, 'Will you have Kinect support?'," said Rutter. OXM.com
