.Net is definitely where you want to start. There are a bunch of languages you can write in on the .Net framework, but in my opinion the best option is C#.

I agree I started with VB but it was a mistake in my opinion. C# is the most like the other languages that are popular for making games.

Easiest would be java. The most beneficial language would probably be C++ or C#.

Get a grasp on the basics in vb like Data Types, Variables, etc and then move onto C++ as it's a doddle then.
Whatever you do... don't do what I did when I started by copying and pasting code and not learning anything from it, then claiming it as mine... there's really no point as you're learning NOTHING.
HTML isn't even a programming language, it's a markup language.
It lacks logical constructs like conditional branching, iteration and more.

HTML has nothing to do with game programming.

IMO Java is the easiest and most fun language to use but I started out learning basics with c++ then I moved onto Java I'm currently entering my freshmen year of college as a comp sci major but I code at more of a junior comp sci major level. But that's only because I have had 2 semesters of c++ and 2 semesters of Java under my belt
