If it's just you and a few of your friends you should be fine. But if the wrong people get on, they have easier access to your personal data, just be smart, and use common sense and you will be fine. Also use a whitelist, and then you have to approve someone, before they can get on the server.

If I Type The Wrong Codes When Im Port Forwading Will MY Router Break?

Nope, you will not mess up your router, even if you type in incorrect ports, as they just simple won't work, however it isn't hard to type "25565" in TCP/UDP Start-End. It isn't something you can really go wrong on, however disable uPNP.

There are tutorials on Youtube, or you can google it. Just be careful about who you let on your server. Blah is right also.
