It makes me sad to think of this. When I was like 6 or 7 my brother showed me how to play Xbox. This is my favorite thing. I got better and better loving and getting deep into the thoughts of master chief and onwards the arbiter. The story was great and I loved it. Stating with halo combat evolved then to halo 2 one of my favorite games I then met halo reach saw forge mode and brand new weapons. Oldest comes out and I like it the new firefight. Halo reach a long awaited game comes out and just dissapointed me. It took like a year to level up. The forge mode looked good but isn't. The campaign was dumb I liked it but just get back to chief we wanna know more about his life and what happens next.hopefully halo 4 will bring back my childhood memories of before I had Xbox live playing with my brothers. Laughing and having an enjoyable time. I really hope that it comes back and revives the halo series

SpartanIV wrote If you're a true Halo fan like me Halo was never dead, and Reach didn't kill halo. I still play Reach every now and then. Halo is definatly not dead, and Halo 4 is going to be even better then Reach was.
Halo: Reach and Halo 3 are both still in the top 20 most played Xbox LIVE games week after week, but the population sucks compared to Call of Duty .. as well as some other games like Skyrim, Minecraft, and Battlefield 3.

So with that said, let's take a trip back in time, and view the amount of people playing Xbox LIVE Games (specifically Halo: Reach) after two months (Post- Call of Duty: Black Ops) [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] and now let's go back further to three years before that and view Halo 3 two months after release (Post- Call of Duty 4) [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] .

So.. Halo: Reach couldn't hold up against Modern Warfare 2 or Black Ops several months after it's release, while Halo 3 had no problem holding up the crown against Call of Duty 4. A lot of people in the Halo Community left after the release of Halo: Reach.. I found Halo: Reach to be a fun game, but a majority of the people, eh.. no.. it wasn't the thing many people were expecting.. everyone though Reach was going to be this wonderful game, it wasn't.. it had a bad ranking system, crappy maps, forge world items that were all the same color, bloom, armor abilities, mini-nuke grenades, armor lock, daily credit cap, level cap that wasn't raised until the community got a total of 17 million daily challenges done and a whole lot of other problems.
If it was such a fascinating game then there would be a crap load of people playing it right now as I'm typing this.. but there isn't, because most of the people who thought it was going to be this wonderful game and all that stuff, are either playing Halo 3 (which I can't blame them for.. and yeah, there are people that are playing it still from the beginning like Cloudspider who was the second Inheritor in the world, first since the first guy got reset for cheating but as I said, I can't blame them) or off playing something like Modern Warfare 3.. or Skyrim or some other game. (Which, I also can't blame them for since COD could get addicting.. yeah there are campers, complainers, trash talkers, modders, people who use OP guns the whole time, spawn-trappers, etc. but it still could get addicting..)

hold on... I want to end that paragraph..

Well basically, what I'm trying to say is.. Halo: Reach (believe it or not) ruined the Halo Community, it made people leave..

Who knows though, maybe those people (as well as many more) come just in time for Halo 4!

P.S - This isn't a rant in any way.. I'm just pretty much putting it out there that Reach broke the community.. in a long, long, way....

Halo always has a place in my heart, and I hope that Halo4 will re introduce the community.

I don't really care if it made alot of the halo community leave. I liked Reach and still play it all the time. So what I'm trying to say is to me Halo isn't and never was dead.. I don't care if there isn't that many people online. Why are you comparing it to COD lol? Just play the game and have fun, who cares if it holds up against Call of Duty..

Here is what i think. Halo 3 was amazing, it was what got me hoked on playing xbox all the time. I was getting amazing at the game and i was really good. Sure people play for fun but i think alot of the halo community on halo 3 were in it to win and rank up and say " Look im a brigadier or General ETC. "
For me i loved to win the game thats all i enjoyed was winning and winning and winning. Then halo reach came and i felt like it was just no fun:/ i like it and i still play it from time to time, but it frustrates me that i cant even get good teammates and now they can just sit there and still rank up? Its the same way for cod but it doesnt feel right for halo. Basically i can see a nova and im only a colonel and still whip his ass. Winning or loosing means nothing in that game. Its more friendly than when it used to be.

I'm comparing it to Call of Duty because that's the most played game on the Market right now, plus everyone tends to compare Halo and Call of Duty so why not? I still play Reach though, I understand that not many people play a day compared to some of the newer games (... MW3.. BF3.. Skyrim.. Minecraft.. Black Ops) and the population won't go up any time soon or at all period, but in reality, Reach killed Halo.. even if you don't want to see it that way... it did.

100% Agreed. Halo was doing fine until Reach, that's where it went downhill. Halo would no doubt be king if there wasn't such a gap between Halo 3 and Halo 4. They allowed other games to take over because of all the time that was spent on ODST and Reach. Halo 4 will revive Halo in my opinion.
