which game is better to get today when im in gamestop dead island goty or max payne 3

, I have played both and I think I'd go with Max Payne 3.
If you are interested in Dead Island based on the awesome trailer run away from it right now. The game is good, the only problem is that there really doesn't have a good storyline as you might have thought based on the trailer. Dead Island is longer than Max Payne 3 but it gets really repetitive overtime IMO. It's around 40 hours long.
Max Payne 3 is more of an action game but has EXTREMELY long cutscenes you cannot skip. I loved the storyline though it is kinda short. It took me 10 action packed hours to complete and has a competitive multiplayer I personally liked. Gameplay didn't get repetitive.
