So ive recently started trying to play steam games on my "Acer Aspire 5742" and it gets hot ridiculously quickly and overheats. Now i've looked online and i cant put a better graphics card in as its apparently all connected to the motherboard. Will a laptop cooler help it run smoother and keep it from shutting down, I'm not the best with laptops so some help or advice would be much appreciated!

Thanks alot

Yes, a laptop cooler would help if it is indeed overheating.

Would it also help with making the laptop run smoother? I've noticed it only begins dramatically slowing down when it gets hot.

It certainly is possible, buy a cooler.
