My opinion is that its a bit overpriced. Intel is overrated. AMD has the same Power of CPU's and even better for a lower price. And where in the world would you need a 3gb GPU for? 2GB is good enough. That saves you 200$? And getting back to the intel thing, AMD Black edition has 3.6ghz and is quad core for only 90 euro?! As you see intel is overrated.

Intel is not overrated. AMD does not have the same performance : dollar ratio as Intel does. Games today can easily max out a card with 1GB of vRAM, BF3 being the main one that comes to mind. If you're playing at above standard resolutions, it's even more crucial. Judging a CPU off of the core clock and cores is so inaccurate and insignificant.

If you're primarily going to use this PC as a gaming PC, drop down to a 2500k since games don't use hyper-threading and the $100 can be spent else where.

Enermax makes CPU coolers? Haven't heard of them and I wouldn't pick it over a similarly priced NZXT Havik or a cheaper Hyper 212.

LGA 1155 boards require dual channel RAM, preferably at 1.5v or lower - you have selected a triple channel kit. Grab a low profile kit of Mushkin for example. Stay away from heatsinks - they not only look cheesy but they provide no advantages and will only interfere with after-market heatsinks.

Switch the video card to a GTX 670 and save $77. The performance is almost identical.

Low quality PSU. You should never cheap out on the PSU, especially when you have such a high budget. With the $77 you saved by moving down to a 670, grab a half decent unit like the 750w Corsair / XfX. The OCZ ZT series are good as well, but the OCZ brand is destroyed . Your choice, just don't skimp on the PSU thinking they're all the same.

For the same price as that Samsung, you could get a Korean IPS monitor codenamed the Catleap. It has a 2560 x 1440 resolution and will dominate any monitor in its price range and more. $300 on EBAY. Take a glance at it at the very least.

P.S - Grab an SSD. Something like the Samsung 830 / Plextor M4 / Crucial. All stable and fast drives. It'll make a remarkable difference in responsiveness and overall sharpness.

Amd just dropped the price of the 7970 to around 429 USD and the gtx 670 is around 400 USD so as of right now the 7970 is a better choice for performance

GTX 670 - $400 flat.

AMD 7970 supposedly at $430.

GTX 670 is a better card and is cheaper, therefore it is a better buy. BF3 is the main game that people tend to benchmark since it's pretty demanding - Metro 2033 being right behind it.

All 7970 GPU's should be under the $400 for them to be a half decent option.

Still a lot better choices for a $1,700 budget.

I'll make it simple and sweet.

This CPU - [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
These heatsinks - [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] or a much more expensive [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
This RAM - [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
This PSU - [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

It's actually compatible now and won't explode ( yes, I'm looking at the Apevia PSU ).

An SSD is optional. Basically it's a 2.5'' drive that uses flash storage, is insanely fast, low failure rates, no moving parts, and is a great boot drive. Will improve all around performance and response times.
