if i open my HDD and touch the silver disk would that kill the drive?


also where can i get a 500GB sata drive for under 30GBP?

Maybe but only if you damage it.

And there are no 500GB HDD's under 30GBP

Ebay has a few for under 30GBP, just a quick search should bring them up. The ones I have seen are not new though. And, to answer the other question, a single piece of dust on the surface of the hard drive platter can disrupt the drive, so touching it could easily break it.

I'm not sure if it would break it or not but there's really no point in even trying.

Well a spec of dust on that disk is enough to corrupt it so yeah it could! And eBay will be your best bet!
