Get the Les Paul. It's just better in most aspects. I think it even looks cooler.

It depends on what type of music you will be playing. Tbh i would go with a les paul, but unless you are getting a REAL les paul (Which they are expensive) Get the strat. But look into ibanez if you have the option! really good company who makes really good and high quality products. hope i helped

Almost completely forgot about Ibanez, I've liked everything I've ever had from them

What guitar you should buy depends entirely on the style of music you will be playing, i.e. I would recommend a Les Paul if you planned on playing 80's and 90's sounding classic rock, but the Strat if it was more modern, however if you planned on playing Metal i'd recommend an Ibanez, and if it was more kinda hard rock I'd perhaps recommend you to get a Dean or a Jackson.
Remember too though, that to get a good sounding guitar, you will need a decent amp too, at first i was using a Line 6 Spider IV amp, and i must say it was one hell of a good amp for the cheap 55 quid price tag.
I'm saving up to get a PRS right now, a friend who owns the local guitar shop's personal guitar is a PRS Mikael Akerfedt model and it must be one of the greatest guitars i've ever played, up there with Steve Vai's custom Ibanez JEMs and also a real Fender 62 Strat.

You should add pictures of the kind of strat and les paul you're interested in. Also are you planning to do any modifications to it?

Yea because I think Strats are the nicest looking guitar you can get.
62' Strat.... Beautiful. That's my dream guitar.

God I love that.... I've also always liked the look of the Gibson Firebird. Unfortunately I seem to be veering away from electric guitars and into electric-acoustic
