so i have had windows 7 for a long time now
i am clearing space on my HDD's

and i was wondering if it safe to delete the windows.old folder

Yeah. That is all the stuff from a previous Windows, and it is not needed. It takes up a lot of space on your HDD. When it says that you are deleting important Windows files, don't worry about it. It is saying that because it is stuff that the old Windows would need to run.
