I saw a post somewhere saying that the hair drier was a great fix for the xbox 0020 error on the 3 rrod. I was wondering of it works and if it does, how long would it last.

No, absolutely not. Purposely heating up your console (other than a professional reflow) WILL cause PERMENANT damage to your console. Never attempt to do anything like the "towel trick" or overheating your console. It will only sometimes temporarily let you play it for a brief period of time untill it gets the same error again or worse.

This is pretty accurate as going with professional fixing is always the best, but usually the most costly. The towel trick, hair dryer, over, etc. will work for a while, and it will eventually get the same error unless you can give the board the proper cooling it will need. Depending on the strength of your hair dryer then you could actually pull off a permanent reflow like your actually using a heat gun. Make sure you gaurd all the capacitors and other parts with aluminum foil before you attempt to do the hair dryer fix. Maybe after a sucessful hair dryer fix, do the 12v fan mod to help the xbox recieve more air.

As said before, no. Just don't.
All it does is heat up component unnecessarily which causes damage. It won't last you very long, it needs to be reballed.

It doesn't work because the reason why you got RROD in the first place is because of overheating so don't you think heating up and over heated xbox is a very smart idea.
