It all looks very empty imo. I feel like there should be more color, more content, and just more overall. I know you said that you realized that, but it really is something that would make it much more interesting. Maybe even just an accent color here and there (maybe make some border blue or something). Then if ever this wanted to be a real site it would be a pain to do, but unlike most web designs I think it would possible. It looks very clean, but I think too clean. Try adding more color and something to spruce it up a little bit. Black, white, and clever placement of text (in my opinion) really wouldn't draw people in.

I do think it looks better, but now that you have that I think there are various other things to work on. For one, try adding in that blue into your text more. Make them blue when hovering over them or something (I know you can't show this on just a design). Also like I said I really do think maybe adding a small 1px blur border around your black borders would also incorporate that blue in there. I would also try and make a text box around your links, but that could just be me.
