I have searched this but come up with nothing. My 360 overheats with all of the case on, and with half of it on. But when i remove it entirely, leaving just half the heat sink I can play it for hours on end. Anyone have a clue as to what is happening?

Then don't post.

On topic: By some extra fans for it or if it's on a carpet/enclosed area, move it onto a cool, open surface. Or just run it without the case.

I would suggest buying some fans for it, also if it is on the floor mount it on something so the air can get to it.
