Beats suck compared to almost everything!
the sound is waaaayyyyyy to bassy
they claim they are studio quality but studio quality isnt bass boosted, its Neutral!
and the highs and mids in beats are terrible
i have studios and i would say my JVC headphones which i payed 20 GBP for a crisper and a better buy!

Im a dubstep producer and there isnt a best or worst kinda of instrument or anything its all down to personal preferance.

I'm looking for a $300-500 closed headphone for mostly indie-folk and rock. Source will either be a Tascam DR-2D or HTC Amaze for portable usage or a Harman Kardon HK430 connected to an EMU 0204 for home usage.
So far I'm looking at the Beyerdynamic T70, AKG K550, Sony Z1000, Audio Technica W1000X, V-Moda M100, Audio Technica ES10, and Sennheiser Amperior.
Which do you think will be the best for my genres and why? I'd love if you posted specifics about each one.

Haha I'm still trying to decide which one I should get. I don't like the K550 at all, the Amperior apparently sounds like the HD25 which were just "meh," the W1000X is huge (but looks so awesome), the T70's graphs are scary, the M100 seems to be a hype machine waiting to crash, the ES10 might be too V-shaped, and the Z1000 is the most unoffending. I've only tried the Z1000 and K550, and won't be able to try the others, which sucks. The Denon D600's look is starting to warm up to me, but nobody knows how they sound except for Steve Guttenburg, who didn't explain how they sound at all.
