inuyasha555 wrote If the console is banned you shouldn't be able to update it period.

From Xbox.com "...or play new games that require a console software update."

This obviously implies that you can;t update the console at all. It will probably just come up with an error saying you're banned.
I don't quite understand. Just because it says that new games require a console software update, why would that mean I can't update my Xbox?

Not trying to turn this topic into a chat room or anything, but inuyasha555 is waiting on me to say something about her/him because I saw that she/he was looking at this page real quick after this guy posted and then quickly got off.

That's what I'm saying!

I'm actually going to talk to an agent that works for Microsoft and then send the pic on TTG for proof.

Sorry to say this, but inuyasha555 was right. You can't by what one of the agents that works @ Microsoft said. Chat Transcript is right here.

Chat Transcript
You are now chatting with 'Colin'.
Colin: Hello, thank you for contacting Xbox Customer Support. My name is Colin. Please give me a moment to review your question.
Colin: Hi Alex, how are you?
Alex: Great
Colin: I have read your issue. There is no way to update a banned console Alex.
Alex: Do you know how or why in any way, shape, or form?
Alex: Cause I bought an xbox from a friend and when I tryed to connect to xbox live, it said that it was banned and I wanted to update it
Colin: Unfortunately I cannot give out information like that. Once a console is banned, there is absolutely no way at all to update to though Alexx.
Alex: Oh well thanks for your help. You saved me a little effort.
Colin: Is there anything else I can help you with?
Alex: No. Thank you though.
Colin: Thank you very much for contacting Xbox Support. Have a great day also! Anything else, don't hesitate to contact us again.
