What is the best size RAM to get for a Tekkit server?
Not too dear but the right size so it doesnt lag?

4gb would be plenty, 8gb with suit all of your needs no matter what. i have 8 in mine and you wont need anymore to be honest.

And it isn't really your RAM, itll be more your Graphics card so make sure you have one like a Radeon HD6000 series or one with at least a gigabyte.

iCaLLuM nailed it. Unless you want a crazy amount of slots, 8gb is more than enough. You don't need 64gb unless you are hosting like a 500 slot server haha.

How much does 4gb cost and btw this is for Tekkit does that make a difference?

It will be fairly cheap as long as you don't go to your big retailers like PCWorld or whatever. Try shopping online alittle and if you see any small computer businesses give them a try and get a quote and they even fit it for you for free.

It all depends on how many people you plan on having on your server.
1 GB could get about 30 people on a server.
2 GB = 60
You can do the math from ther... I hope.

yeah tekkit is quite laggy if you dont buy RAM,

it would help for the most you can afford or depends what your doing, (tekkit lets play) (bukkit/server)

I have seen 4gb sticks at bestbuy for as low as 20$. Make sure to get RAM that fits in your computer! (Right Mhz)
